Also Gerrans for races like the TDU.

I was thinking of possible climbers GreenEdge could send to the Giro and Vuelta.

I'm not sure there would be a need for Gerrans amongst the that list, allowing Gerrans to concentrate on the Nationals, TDU, the Classics, TDF and Worlds. As for Weening, I was unsure where he would fit in now, and was thinking along the lines of Stage races other than the Grand Tours.

Ok. I was just saying they were decent climbers/ Weening has proved he is probably their best climber- 2nd/ 6th and 1st at Langkawi, Pais Vasco and Poland. This year Weening also was strong at the Giro, but faded near the middle.

I just came to post the same thing. I guess Sky can do a swap with Orica in two years time. Porte for the Yates twins.
I'm shocked that 100% Me is not a Sky feeder team and FDJ are probably kicking themselves as well.

I really hope Marco Zannoti will get a team next year. He's isn't member of Utensilnord anymore, due to his bad perfomances this year. He's a really fast sprinter, and won two years ago two stages in the Girobio, where he beat guys like Trentin, Moser, Puccio and Battaglin. Anyone knows why he struggles so much this year?

No more Alonso, so maybe De Gendt to Lampre or OPQS if he get's his way and if Bakelants ends up somewhere else.

This is also interesting.
with Vacansoleil-DCM and Euskaltel disappearing Of the 56 riders only 9 have now signed for a new team. Not to mention all team staff members

Not that strange considering that these two teams have a lot of WT-filler and Spain has only one Pro conti team and the Netherlands have not a single pro conti team.

Probably a lot of retirees, unless some of the bigger amateur teams can cobble up the money to ride Continental and do the local .1 circuit. I'm sure teams like Supermercados Froiz and Azysa-Telco'm (and Andalucía of course) could be at least passable in a few of the .1 races there, although with now the Spanish scene looking like sinking to Movistar, Caja Rural, Burgos-BH and Orbea, a bunch of those few remaining races could die or go amateur.

De Gendt and Bakelants can't stand each other? Since the thought of them joining the same team seems out of the question.

In other news:

Anders Lund to leave Saxo and join Copenhagen University.

I think it's more due to the fact that OPQS only have one spot left and there seem to be interested in both.

Those elite teams are usually good when racing against each other, but every time a foreign team drops in - be it Lokomotiv, or Lotto-Belisol U23 etc. - those begin to dominate. The Iberian amateur scene is pretty weak, especially outside the Basque Country. No wonder they are only rarely seen in the top spots of elite/U23 races abroad. I would love to see Lizarte, Super Froiz or Café Baque step up to continental level, but I just can't see it. No money, no races, no talent development.

Andrea Piechele returns to Bardiani. He quit cycling due to knee problems after 2011, and returned midway this year (had surgery). He already got some very decent results this year even though he hasnt been back on the bike for a long time. Good move for both parties especially with Modolo leaving.

Bakelants was set to join Alonso's team and is now left stranded

“The sky fell on my head. And that's an understatement,” current RadioShack Leopard rider Bakelants writes in his column in the Gazet van Antwerpen. “Since yesterday my future as a cyclist is again uncertain. I had an agreement with the team of Fernando Alonso, the old Euskaltel - Euskadi. It was very important to me: they wanted me really.”

Things have now changed, unfortunately, and he and many others have been left scrambling to find contracts.

“Until Monday morning I was sure my team for next season. Indeed, even the contracts were ready. They would be signed here in Tuscany. But now the whole project won’t happen.”

Should get snapped up by someone, if not for his best wage. It would be smart for teams to keep a couple of slots and some budget open just for cases like this. There is probably some hard bargaining going on though as there seem to be heaps of names still with uncertain futures.

wow ! Just learnt that both Gaudin and Turgot have left Europcar for AG2R. That's surprising coz AG2R aren't much renowned for their cobbled classics exploits.
Wonder whether an Europcar DS switched over?
