Machado doesn't follow anybody. His book of tactics was written by Jacky Durand.

True! Interesting to see where he ends up. As much as he's failed to make a big break through he'll still be able to pick up some decent results for some team. Might be more valuable to a pro-conti team where he'd get outright leadership in every race.

Anyone got news about De Gendt? I heard he wants to stay at WT and will leave the sport if he doesnt get a contract at WT, but he's still got a few more good years in him. Also, what about Vacansoliel and Accent Jobs-Wanty merger? I think Accent Jobs decided to end its sponsorship?

Lampre has asked for De Gendt's bio passport data (As did the Alonso team, but their not happening anymore). He also said that he would like to got to OPQS, but Bakelants might get that spot on their team instead.

Vacansoleil's manager Van der Schueren is moving to Accent Jobs. And some of Vacansoleil's riders may be moving across as well. Accent Jobs is pulling out as sponsor of the team, but they've secured a new sponsor from the Walloon region that they'll announce soon.

Also Lampre having the Portuguese connection probably made it fairly easy, especially with the loss of the ISD money and therefore the loss of most of the Ukrainian riders.

Ya i forgot about the portuguese link so that is another thing adding up.

Could Machado follow them to Lampre?

Like i said a couple pages ago, i expect Machado to follow Jozé Azevedo to Katusha.

But Lampre would be a cool place for him as well. At RS he has more often than it should, been sent to Belgian races with no hills where he can't really show himself. At Lampre he would be able to ride plenty of small Italian races with plenty hills and medium mountains where he could shine.

this is why wt needs no more than 10-12 teams

Every team needs domestiques. Besides there would have to be more money paid for better domestiques- which might hinder sponsorship for some teams.

A more feasible amount would be 16 WT teams.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, Nieve to Sky

Good signing for them. Consistent grand tour performer. Giro domestique for Porte and then possibly free role at Vuelta?

Rather Henao to Giro and Vuelta and Nieve for Tour and Vuelta.

Nieve proved he's top climber at Tour already, while Henao is more of a question so far.

henao should only do the vuelta. I'm sure that will happen too. he can win that like horner if he doesn't race too much.

My guess is that Henao won't be leader in a GT next year. And you can't really blame Sky for doing it that way.

he will. that's in his contract.

What's your source for that? Besides, I'm sure Sky don't really care about that unless Henao at some point shows something that makes him deserve a role as leader.

I see you dislike henao. but he has. that's only reason he signed with them again. he was promised to lead one gt and bring his first cousin in.

No no, I really like Henao actually. I think he's a great rider but GT wise he has shown next to nothing so far. If I was a sports director for Sky would I let Henao lead a GT again next year? Probably. But I don't think Sky will and you can't really blame them no matter how much you like Henao.

henao was sick in giro and empty in vuelta. sky now this. in giro last year he was excellent despite also doing the classics full. also he has among highest test results in sky. they know his potential. next year they will ease him up more.

He placed 9th in his first GT (Giro). He definitely has the pedigree to contend GT's and deserves to be given the chance to do so. And he is Sky's 3rd best man behind Froome and Porte to go for a high placing.

But Nieve, who they just signed, was 10th in his 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th GT ;)

Sure. But it's not like he was 20 or something. He was 24. And since then he's finished 14th, 16th and 28th.

Also you forget Wiggins (and Nieve).

Again, I'm not questioning Henao's ability or his potential. I'm just saying that Sky probably won't let him lead a GT next year, and based on his results, which have been less than stellar, it's understandable.

The 14th at the Vuelta though was while working for Froome (top 15 while working for another, impressive in it's own right), and this year like Ryo said he just didn't get it right in the GT's. Had a bit of an off year for the GT's, can happen to everyone. It would be a mistake to not let him lead a GT IMO. If Sky doesn't give him the chance to make good on that 9th, then he'll never be able to show if he can contend in GT's or not.

As for Wiggins, he isn't doing GT's anymore. And to Nieve, well I would say he seems to have stagnated, getting 10th at almost every GT he's raced. But this is Sky we're talking about. They just may turn him into the next Froome. ;)
