I tried to see if there were any comments in the thread and couldn't find any. What are peoples thoughts on GreenEdge signing Ivan Santaromita and Mathew Hayman?

Both are good signings, Santaromita for hills support if ever someone steps up and needs it and also good as stage hunter. Hayman is a good cobbles rider and domestique. However losing O'Grady and Langeveld on the balance of things I don't think the team is overall as strong as this year. There are still places on the team so we'll see how they are filled.

Movistar seem to be buying a few big engines. A wise tactic given their inability to get Valverde back up to the peleton at the TDF.

it's for quintana, not valverde they need big engines on the flatter roads. although marque is porbably being taken for ttt

Although I was rooting for César in that final ITT once it became clear Hernâni Brôco was one stage short of the recovery needed to win the Volta (again), I do feel happy for Marque to get to the top level after a decade as a Continental rider. I suspect he'll be mostly a flat + smaller hills kind of guy at Movistar, for TTT as Ryo says he'll be a very good engine but also as stalwarts of the team like Gutiérrez and Lastras who've been there since they were domestiquing for Chava Jiménez are now reaching likely retirement age (Gutiérrez will be 35 at the end of the season but has clearly been decreasing in level for the last couple of years, while Lastras has re-signed but at 37 isn't likely to be around much longer). And winning the Volta a Portugal is a good sign recovery-wise when he'll likely have a few days to be allowed to sit in the bus in GTs.
