Hivert is a nice addition to Belkin's team. Usually a certainty for some good results early in the year.

Some good riders leaving Europcar and nobody of note joining

Does boots cost as much as half of Sojasun and they can't make up their mind?

Was thinking the same thing when I saw that. At this point I would think they would want to be actively signing new riders if they're really serious about moving to world tour.

Maybe, hopefully, they've signed a bunch though and are just waiting to announce the names.

Scarponi deciding between Astana, Lampre, Cannondale and....

EUROPCAR
meh
they really want to get WT, and not to be blamed for a poor Giro

It's nonsense.

Bernaudeau : "Je ne prendrai pas Scarponi. Cet agent, je ne connais que son mail. Il m'en envoie, mais je ne lui réponds pas".

Bernaudeau might be crazy, but he's not insane enough to sign the ticking time bomb Scarponi is.

Agent trying to create some competition for his services to help negotiations with Lampre...

I don't know if this news is posted already, but Edward Beltran, 23 years old, has signed a contract with Ceramica-Flaminia-Fondriest. In 2010, he finished 2nd in the Girobio, behind Betancur, but in front of Winner Anacona.

After his good showing in Italy, however, no big team picked him up, and his career went to a dead road with EPM-Une, but now he will race next year in Europa. Very interesting to see how good he actually is.

Colombia-Coldeportes, wake up!

Horner is apparently looking for a contract worth 750,000 Euros. Europcar said no thanks.

All clinic issues aside, even given his age that's good value. Assuming a one year contract of course. If he's demanding that for two, he's probably pricing himself out of the market.

Guercilena says Trek factory racing has 28 riders signed. With the ones staying and the ones already confirmed I only count 26. One possible wildcard is Danilo Hondo, where we have conflicting reports on his fate.

So Trek have 1 or 2 more riders already signed that we don't know. I haven't heard of any other rumours so I have no idea who it might be

It seems like Hondo is staying. He is listed as part of the team in this article: http://www.velochrono.fr/actu/2013/guercilena-revoir-les-schleck-au-top/

I have a feeling that the new signing might be Van Keirsbulck. He was initially rumoured to be joining Trek and then it was said he had extended with OPQS. However with Lefevere said to be in talks to sign Anton, that must mean that one of the OPQS riders isn't staying for 2014 (due to the 30 man roster limit). Just a guess but that would make sense.

Nope, Machado is definitively leaving he confirmed it a couple days ago on his blog.

CQ have him down as possibly joining NetApp or MTN. Have you heard anything about that?

He said he already signed for his new team a while ago but he has orders from the team to keep it a secret for now.

So i assume it is a team that has been quiet this transfer season, also a poster on a portuguese forum said he was disappointed with Machado's choice considering his options but he doesn't reveal anything else. . .

So i really don't know

Anyway in some very surprising news that will put a big smile on Libertine's face, Daniel Silva seems to be joining Rui Costa and Nelson Oliveira at Lampre. He disappointed me a bit this volta and to be honest i would have preferred Edgar Pinto to make the jump, but Daniel Silva is a very good friend of Rui Costa so it would certainly help with the adaptation process at lampre.

I guess both Silva and Oliveira will have the exact same racing program as Costa, Tour included.

Thanks! Seems like one more signing will be announced in the coming days, and it's not going to be a big name

I'd be surprised if Daniel Silva gets to do Le Tour due to his inexperience at the WT level. Part of me wonders if Lampre will go back to using A Volta as a warmup for the Vuelta - 2009 was a good year for them on that front with Tira and Cunego both highly visible in both races. With the sponsor interest there, maybe Silva could lead A Volta. I'd assume Rui would be resting post-Tour ahead of searching for his Worlds defence, and with a Worlds recon stage almost certain for the Vuelta I wouldn't be surprised at all if he does both GTs, but the Vuelta probably not to its conclusion, which would leave little to no scope for racing in the interim. Certainly not to the level of the 11-day Volta!!! However, a Daniel Silva that has been sufficiently rested from Suisse could do A Volta as a de facto leader and train to support Rui's ambitions in Spain.

Thanks. NetApp have been very quiet (no signings made) and I've seen talk that they're looking to strengthen quite significantly with one of the main aims being to secure a Tour wildcard. So perhaps they're waiting to announce a bunch of new signings together.

Haven't they renewed with most of their strongest riders from the Vuelta? I know José Mendes renewed, i think during the vuelta, while he was riding very well for Konig when he was sick. And some other riders were renewed at the same time.

I think Net App could definitively be a possibility.

It is certainly a possibility, even tho i don't think Lampre is all that picky with their tour squad considering the riders they have been sending the last few years.

Yes, renewed with their strongest riders but also looking to add to that I believe.

A Machado riding at the same level he was in 2010/early 2011 would certainly be great for Nett App, however i don't see Machado riding at that level again for some reason . . .

Yeah he could be useful for any team if he could ride like that again. Lots of WT points won with GC placings in 1-week races.

Mendes had a very solid season and maybe he can lead in some races next year. I think Netapp is a great fit for now at least.

Wow Daniel Silva... He isn't that young anymore, maybe he can pull it of like Bruno Pires did for Contador last year. I would prefer to see Ricardo Vilela and Joni Brandão out of Efapel for good or even Nuno Bico (as a promising rider not as a domestique obviously).
