I wonder if Thomas is one of the riders Riis refer to, who tried to demand an unrealistic high salary....

Don't forget OPQS ;) They are as rich as the teams you mentioned ( just look at their line up this year.... ;) ) and wanted Thomas in the past I believe.

And the line up should suggest the cash flow therefor must be low or what?
With that line up I doubt they could afford Thomas on the side to, but I dont know their budget, but hes not cheap.

If Thomas wanna really ride for GC then Tinkoff doesnt fit the bill.

"I'd be thinking of the guys there, not just the team. But GreenEdge is a good group. BMC, Quick Step. You know, that sort of team. A good atmosphere, and well-run" is what Thomas said himself in CS last month

G.Thomas should go to Lotto and kick out the "ascending youngster" VdBroeck, but i doubt they got the money.

EBH is off to BMC. Wiggins' future unclear at this stage, so yeah, might just be Stannard for the cobbles.

thats a good news.
EBH deserves a team tht treats him better. he lost his winning ways after he became a robot for sky.

Sky have doen terrific business here I feel, Thomas and EBH for Aru and Sagan.

If you don't believe me, give it two weeks.

Terpstra out of contract ;)

Anyhow, Sagan is done deal for Tinkof broadhurst :eek::eek:

Tinkov basically offered him a footballers wage to sign him. And Tinkov himself stated he will have the best team by 2016 ( that team includes Sagan ... )

No way OPQS would be losing one of their best performers this year. he already has 200 UCI points. He is one of the engines in their TTT squad.

Yeah, Sky to waste another talent by forcing him to lead the Sky train up the mountain

While most may laugh, Cofidis has a HUGE budget. They just waste it a lot.

Although made right steps with Senechal sigining. I could see this happeing.

French team for a top up and coming French sprinter, no more conflicts with the other top french sprinter Demare, team dedicated to him, invite to the Tour each year pretty much a sure thing.

Sounds like it could be a good fit, they might want to look at signing some other guys as a leadouts for him.

According to Richard Moore (British cycling journalist) Geraint Thomas is set to leave Team Sky after they refused to match his salary demands.

I do not find this surprising. He seems to have GC ambitions, but he is a long way down GC list for Sky, even if Wiggins departs - Froome, Porte, Kennaugh, Nieve would all arguably be ahead of him.

The question is who will pay him the salary he wants, and let him ride GC? I don't believe I've seen much in him to suggest his talents lie in that direction. If he was less apt to falling down, he would be an excellent cobbles man.

Logically he will join a big budget Anglo/International team given that Sky would have been very keen to keep him. So BMC or OPQS. Or maybe even Tinkoff too.

My hunch would be BMC. Tinkov got De Jongh, and appears to be reaping the benefits. BMC could do with Thomas' knowledge, if not necessarily his abilities.

But he would still be behind Boonen, who is signed through 2015. And after his victory in Roubaix he could demand a leadership-role for the cobbles - which OPQS won't give him. It is not certain he stays. I would love to see him riding for Quickstep a few more years, but who knows. IF he decides to lead a smaller team (like Chavanel), they could need a guy like Thomas. ;)

I doubt that would be a smart thing to do, rather the opposite actually. One of the main reasons why he won in Roubaix is.. because he was behind Boonen. As an outsider in cobbled races, being on the strongest team behind a leader is the best situation to be in, just ask Devolder or Chavanel.

I agree, but does Terpstra think the same way we do?

EBH to Astana and Lampre's new agreement for Costa only means that there is no Alonso team anytime soon.

As expected ...

I guess I don't understand the finer points of that Alonso guy's desires. If he wants to own a cycling team, why not just buy a majority stake in an existing formation? Giant-Shimano is scrambling for title sponsorship next year aren't they? Or does he want to go all in with some sort of "super team" in his first year in the sport?

Sagan is all but certain to ride for Tinkoff in 2015, Greenedge wants either Evans or Porte and Matthews & Gerrans are out of contract.

On the Bolded, I really, truly hope not. I can not stand Porte. And I am a huge Evans fan, but he just doesn't seem to fit with the OGE personality. CE seems serious, he seems very reserved and I just can't see him participating in The backstage passes. OGE seem a little too laid back for CE. I wouldn't be unhappy with OGE signing CE, it would just shock me, but if they signed Porte I'd have to seriously follow my username and 'cow girl up', but I'd be very unhappy.

EBH will be PERFECT for Astana- and for his own career where he can well have a leadership on the cobbles & perhaps the Ardennes too while targeting week long races.
bottom line is as long a he's out of SKY, he'll be fine:D
