If it's true and Basso is going back to Riis, why not the Shleck brothers as well? Contador having Andy on his side may be the best thing for BOTH of them.

Betancur at OPQS is hard to see. You have a LOT of discipline guys there:
Kwiatkowski, Cav, Uran, Tony Martin. Betancur will be 2nd fiddle in any race, any terrain. Why should they make him a leader? 1st year is to learn discipline from the others, I guess. Uran will benefit from a Colombian teammate, just not sure Betancur was the one.

Andy would never rider for Contador. Would be to humiliating for him. Besides he would never be a his sider really as he would be dropped very early

Bos will go, it makes no sense for him to stay at Belkin/Lotto where he'll never ride the Tour, or any big race for that matter.

For Gesink it would be refreshing, but we all know he'll never leave his dearest Delahaye.

It s all relative of course.... But my point is that his price is inflated by hype and cycling crazy millionairs.😀 And that no real commercial sponsored team would pay that kind of money for him. The ROI with sagan is just not there .
But if I was him I would take it any day for sure. it s not like he is going to be young and competitive for ever.

The Hushovd case is even stranger. I mean that should really fall under the I have too much money top spend category. Hushovd in my opinion never lived to the expectations ( And then I mean the whole of his career). The last 3 years did we see the real hushovd level?

In my ideal cycling world there would be no place for guys like Tinkoff or even A. Ryhs because I prefer teams with real sponsors and then you can see what s the real value of a rider. But in the end the state of cycling is so that we need those guys and we also need bikeconstructors to sponsor teams just to keep po cycling alive. But it s not sustainable that constructors( except Merida or maybe Giant) keep teams alive as sole title sponsor.

For Constructors like Bianchi they can simply not spent that kind of money on a team( like they did after the team Coast saga). I am really interested in the numbers behind the BMC company.... I dont think they have the revenue to be the sole title sponsor of one the most expensive teams.
You hardly see them riding here in the Benelux of in france or Germany.
And the guys hat do often have that bike because they know someone from the team or something like that. When i ride with some EU and NATO guys with very expensive bikes out brussel then yeah you see them but not like the cannodales , specialized cervelos , pina s , canyon...

Maybe they are much bigger in the anglosaxon sphere ? Otherwise very expensive hobby for Ryhs.

Pst. Hushovd got sick in his first spring with BMC(2012). He has not gotten rid of that disease, and is now retiring at the end of the season because of it.

If you give Sagan a big contract and he gets sick and retires in three years, was signing him then a bad move? Yes in hindsight, but it's impossible to predict sickness and injury.

As for never living up to expectation. After spending most of his career on team Clean(CA), there is a rumor that he has not dabbled at all. Now look at all the guys who he came second to. How does that look now?

If EBH goes to the same team as Sagan, I'm going to seriously wonder if he really wants to win.

I don't see EBH getting many chances on the same team as Sagan.

I sometimes struggle to understand these riders' (or any pro team sports athletes) view on their career paths. If you were EBH, after seemingly unfulfilling years with Sky, why would you want to join a team with Sagan and AC? Wouldn't you want something a little more different (less competition for leaderships, a team with less pressure/media attention)? Or has he really seen himself as an all-terrain domestique for big teams after all? Or is it all about money wanted and money available?

I presume he has been promised leadership in some races....after all Contador & Sagan can't ride every race......and a pay raise and the promise of development .....Maybe TT improvement , etc

Plus Bjarne probably told him he could get him winning again ...

also gesnik gets paid a lot of money that no foreign team will ever pay him. dutch riders at belkin are so overpaid it's ridiuclous.

I'm sure ebh unlike his norwegian fanboys has realized he's nothing more than a helper. also sky paid him a lot of money so he definitely won't get more at tinkoff and sky wants rid of him.
