I think a contract for Goss with a low salary but big bonuses if he delivers 'x' number of wins could do him well and MTN i guess could do that. We'll see.

So who's going to get stuck with Goss?:D

good question, i think it depends on what Goss want's. If he is after a team that'll give him another chance as a sprinter i think he'll be going proconti(Drapac?), but maybe if he is willing to be a domestique again or perhaps a classics/cobbles rider, he could find a team willing to take the chance.

Katousha might be interested in him because Kristoff needs better support in the classics and sprints, Goss won't be a super dom, but we are getting to the point where Kristoff needs to have a decent sized dedicated following of domestiques to help him, i actually feels Goss could be one of them.
Then there's the sprint trains, Cofidis and FDJ are building sprint trains these days, Sagan might need some lead-out guys, but i think Tinkoff is more focused on bringing in high profile riders right now and then supporting them with young riders and what they already have. Maybe BMC will bring him in because the don't quite know what else to do...
SKY has a thing for Aussies, but i don't think they'll go in that direction.

Katusha just signed Guarnieri to do exactly that job. Together with Paolini and maybe Kuznetsov (who has made a big step this year) + the usual russian domestiques that should be a decent team to support him, I would be surprised to see them signing anyone else

I got a simple question:

Has any Pro-Team already opened the checkbook to sign & nurture Miguel Angel Lopez?

He could actually be a good signing for a GC team. He has good positioning, can hold a leader out of the wind, could be good in echelon stages and the like. Like Benna on Tinkoff. That's always a good role for sprinters to take when they no longer have the kick to win sprints, but still have a good top speed. Allthough I don't think any GC team would want to use Farrar for that.

They could use him in a 'suicide pilot' role by crashing out the opposition.

Its far from a done deal, Acevedo says he is to young for a WT team. I agree that Astana and him are not a good match though so I also hope it is not true, Team Colombia is also interested but that would nto be a great match either.
Lopez has said in June (I believe) he would like a state funded Colombian world Tour team in the future and be part of that. But for now I hope he signs with Movistar which would be the best match imo (although that is also a WT team).

I'm 100% sure movistar won't sign him after the ospina disaster.

he should stay in colombia and show he's really good and maybe even win vuelta colombia and then come to europe as an immediate top rider like henao did

Ospina and Lopez are very different though, Ospina had 1 good year in Colombia (I know he started riding very late so it was logical he only had 1 good year), but Lopez already showed great class in the junior ranks and didnt score last year because of a car incident and that he was violently robbed. But Lopez has been consistent for many years.

Besides Movistar also has the succes story with Nairo Quintana and another good rider in Dayer. Of Course Nairo and Dayer already rode way more in Europe then Lopez has. But Lopez now has proven he can do very well in Europe as well. Ospina never rode in Europe before signing with Movistar if Im not mistaken.

When you win the Tour de l'Avenir you are ready for racing in the big league, i would say. Staying in Colombia has the drawback of the not so clean scene there. I'd rather see him in a team that is on the bio passport program, Movistar would be the best option.

Anyone knows what Power will do next year?

the reason they won't sign lopez is a clinic thing. he comes from acevedo. let's just say there has NEVER been a rider under acevedo's wings that made it in europe. on the contrary. so we will have to wait on lopez and that has to happen in colombia where things are changing for the good mostly now.

Not sure at this stage; he's only 19 (20 next May) whereas others like Flakemore, Haig & Ewan are 22, 21 & 20 respectively. He may stay another year in Juniors and perhaps take a "stagiere" spot late next year.

According to Biciciclismo, Miguel Angel López has also received an offer from Team Colombia. We should all pray that he doesn't go there.

I don't think we need to be afraid for that. colombia coldeportes and corti have a horrible reputation in colombian cycling. they have a hard time getting any riders. the only thing they do well is pay

Another young mountain domestique I thought would go to Alonso.

Update on Team Alonso btw.

http://www.cyclingquotes.com/news/alonso_team_to_ride_cervelo_bikes_in_2015/

"It remains to be seen whether the new team will be granted a WorldTour license or whether they will have to start at the pro continental level. Alonso reportedly has a deal with sponsors from the United Arab Emirates worth up to 20 million euros per season, an amount that would catapult it into the top tier of team budgets, and the team reportedly already has invitations for all three grand tours."

Sounds promising, but most of the top riders have already been taken.
