That would be very bad for cycling. But I wouldnt worry to much about it, SKY isn´t really a dream team for an Italian.

that would be bad for what?

A very promising young, aggressive and talented Italian gc rider turned into a SKY robotic power meter...No thanks, very bad for cycling. In my opinion I should add :)

Riis is interested in signing Magnus Cort for 2015, but again, who isn´t.
Garmin tried to lure him with a contract last year but he very maturely decided to take another year as continental rider.

I think Riis have a good chance, Cort´s very good friend and former room mate Michael Valgren signed a 3 year contract with Riis last year and loves it on the team, so I would say its just formalia and the signing a reality, I would love to see him on the pro tour.

I'd say it's a 99.99999999999 % change that Cort is a WT rider from next season.
As for where, well... something tells me he'll have a lot of options to choose from.

I´m sure he will be, 99,99% sounds about right.
Skelde always had a very good relationship to Riis, and if Riis want´s Cort then I have no doubt it´s the direction Skelde will push him at as well, and also because it would probably be the best place for him, he can move to Valgren and Chris in Toscana and the support he would get from Lombardi and others are invaluable.

We have seen how well planed programs the young guns had on Tinkoff so far, I can´t see any other team who could do it better.

My bet would be 80/20 he ends up with Riis, IF Riis is still part of the team of course.

Didn't Cort attend the Giant-Shimano winter camp?

They did. Means Aru feels well a Astana and only an *insane* bid might be accepted by both Astana and Aru.

I don´t even think he likes SKY or the way they ride, so yes it have to be an insane bid.

Apropos bids, now it seems Riis again denies to pay top dollar for the stars, now he say just because it´s Olegs money they are trying to push the price up, and he´s in contact with a lot of riders he says.

It´s life Riis, if you want them, you pay. It sucks but it´s how it works, and be happy it´s not soccer players you are buing. ;)

Contract negotiations by media. Riders and their agents do it, why not team managers?

Sagan is all but certain to ride for Tinkoff in 2015, Greenedge wants either Evans or Porte and Matthews & Gerrans are out of contract.

Well, unfortunately Riis always had a reputation not to pay over price for his riders, then he rather say no. He want the riders to a fair price, to the price they are worth, but the only problem is, its far from the reality we live in the real world, and he misses out on some important signings, its not the first time, and it surely wont be the last one either.

I think the only time Riis really stretched his limits was with Alberto, but he didnt have alternatives so there were no way out this time.

According to Richard Moore (British cycling journalist) Geraint Thomas is set to leave Team Sky after they refused to match his salary demands.

I have no idea his salary demand, but certain to get a ride somewhere.

Interesting development with Thomas if this is the case.

Seems to leave a little hole in Sky's cobbles team. Stannard and maybe Sir Wiggo? Ebh?

EBH is off to BMC. Wiggins' future unclear at this stage, so yeah, might just be Stannard for the cobbles.

Logically he will join a big budget Anglo/International team given that Sky would have been very keen to keep him. So BMC or OPQS. Or maybe even Tinkoff too.

I think the point is that Thomas wants to be a leader on stage races now, not a classic/Cobbles type of rider.

Back in line I guess.

Anyway it will immediate elevated Stannard to outright captain in the cobbles races, a development which fits my little greasy agenda perfectly.

After Uran who was the first Sky rider who left the team and started riding even better it might be good option for G to leave, especially if he wants t focus on stage races. Maybe Orica ?

But if he has so high demands then only Tinkoff, BMC or Alsono could fit them.

Don't forget OPQS ;) They are as rich as the teams you mentioned ( just look at their line up this year.... ;) ) and wanted Thomas in the past I believe.
