Biggest cycling newspaper in Flanders reports today Lotto isn't amused at all with Vandenbroeck performing way below the huge paycheck he's getting. No kidding.. he's likely to earn a lot less in the future, or maybe even leave (although I don't really see that happening).

Funny cartoon (VDAB is were people looking for a job go to :D):

In what way? It is nice for Lopez to become pro at WT level. Astana seems a decent team for him.
ohh my god,not at all. lopez should be a GT contender. They've got Aru and Nibali, half of this team is italian.so not ideal.

Yes, I agree. I would have liked to see him at another team.

I'm wondering where he could go, which team needs a GC rider? He might go a team to work though for some leader but that's a real setback for the belgian hope ....

They have the knowledge to develop a rider (see Aru) and he can learn from Nibali. He should not contend the GC of a GT in his first year.

I doubt any team wants him even for half of the money he gets from Lotto.. A reduce of his paycheck seems the most likely option, together with the team forcing him to get over his Tour obsession.

Well, they are finally talking about not letting him do the TdF. We shouldn't forget however that it was Marc Sergeant himself who didn't want Jurgen to ride other GT's than the tour.

The article seems to be mostly the journalist's own opinion, at least the part that we can read online... does he offer any clues as to why VDB seems to be on the brink of leaving?

If he moves to another team, he'll be a domestique, unless it's MTN or whatever. And he's not half as good as a domestique, ask Cadel Evans.

Not a good team for Miguel Angel Lopez, i agree. Pretty impressive line-up for Astana next year though, i'm curious to see how that is going to play out

Well, the exposure at the Tour is way bigger than at the Giro or Vuelta of course, so that's understandable. But the obsession is real. Look at his Vuelta.. no motivation at all.

Those sports journalists often have quite some inside information, but the article doesn't say he's close to leaving either, he's just putting 1+1 together, saying it Might happen. But like I said, it probably won't.

thats a exception,he trains with tiralongo and is/was a big friend with Nibali, there is also martinelli...none of these things won't aplly with such an influence on Lopez.
