No word on Mauro Santambrogio is there? Pretty sure his ban ends soon..

His ban ends in november, I only know he is training (I dont know how hard) and he was at the start of the Tour of Lombardy. I think he hopes to get back but we probably wont hear it until his ban is over.

I am wondering which team would take him though, Neri Sottoli cannot do it with their image and I dont think many WT teams currently want to sign him. Maybe Nippo Fantini. If not he might go to a CT like Meridiana Kamen Team (who took riders like Rebellin, Sinkewitz and Rossi in the past).

Yea, with Miche gone, Meridiana seem to be the leaders in picking up riders under duress.

There's always Androni though. At least partially due to Savio's famous low budget and sponsor billboard jerseys, their list of riders picked up either post-suspension, during investigations or when nobody else would touch them is long - Franco Pellizotti, Davide Rebellin, Francesco de Bonis, Michele Scarponi, Mattia Gavazzi, Emanuele Sella, Miguel Ángel Rubiano, Ángel Vicioso, Massimo Giunti, Niklas Axelsson, Danilo Hondo etc...

Honestly I don't see Nippo - Vini Fantini picking him. Didn't the sponsor Vini Fantini pulled out of the Scinto team because of the Di Luca/Santambrogio scandal?

And for Savio part, I think he said that he didn't want more ex-dopers last year. But since he brought back Pellizotti after the deal with Astana fell who knows. :p

I hope Santambrogio gets picked up by Androni would be a nice team for him. When not on EPO he is still a very good rider, he cannot climb with the best but he can do very well in all the Italian hilly races + he has a fast finish.

In his last year at BMC he had very few chances to ride for himself but if he was allowed he did really good, 4th in Lombardia, 6th in Piemonte, 6th in San Sebastian and for the rest of the year he almost always rode in service.

Yes, they did.

I thought you said *without* EPO...

Wait a minute, wait a minute - remember the Pellizotti case? When he tried to join Astana..

Vini Fantini-Nippo, Androni, Neri Sottoli are all MPCC members. Only Meridiana aren't so that's the only place he could go from all those teams right?

there is something in the MPCC rules that teams are allowed to sign riders who (within a certain period of time after the positive test) fully cooperated with the anti doping authorities

Santambrogio's ban was shortened, so there obviously was some kind of cooperation - I don't know if he fulfilled the time criteria though.

But yes, if he didn't then there are not many options for him (and also for Reda). Meridiana or Christina Watches (in case the team will continue) maybe.

Speaking of aging riders, Garate should have an oral agreement with a WT team. Which one could that be? Europcar?

yep, they wanted to sign three foreigners, the 3rd one will be an Italian

there are rumors it might be Gasparotto

...although I hope it'll be Baliani. And someone need to tell them Muto is free to ride again as well :p
