I could actually see Samu going to lampre, they don't have a full roster I thought?
They would have the races and the leadership role for him.

Quite. But Niemiec is also a factor to consider.

Samuel: Catalunya, Tirreno, Dauphiné, Vuelta
Niemiec: Same + Giro?

I thought Samu showed well last season at BMC. I was kinda surprised they did not resign him. If he is asking big $ then he might have overplayed his hand.

If he wants to ride his price will drop. Lampre could use him. They are thin in talent. But there budget is tight. I think they are playing a waiting game. Or I hope they are? Hate to see a Team struggle with $.

I think he said he wants to ride for reasonable wage and not to make a year long sacrifice just to ride for nothing.

No. Apart from the Vuelta and GdL he did just about nothing.

well... maybe it's me, but I actually think Samu is one of those guys who is in it for the sport and leading in it. He doesn't want to be a support rider but a leader(which is why he left BMC). Must say I have always been a fan of him, so not really objective view tbh.

What are the time trialling capabilities of Niemiec? Not that great I thought?

Portuguese newspaper "A Bola" says that Mário Costa (Rui's brother) will be in Lampre in 2015.

Another news in the portuguese market:

Alejandro Marque and Oscar Gonzalez to Efapel (Arkaitz Durán very close too)
Joaquim Silva, Antonio Carvalho, Carlos Ribeiro and Rui Vinhas to W52 (former OFM)

Is he not 36? Well Copeland has already made one stuff up with an older rider so maybe he has been told not to waste money on another!

But isn't the issue that you are a fan of him and so think Lampre should sign him rather than what is in Lampre's best interests given their objectives.

If Lampre sign Samu, they have a good card in the hilly classics. I think he is past it in terms of GT, but would still be able to at least top 10 most hill classics and smaller stage races.

Agnoli back to Astana; bit funny after all interviews he gave with bad comments toward Astana/Nibali.

So what do we reckon for the Volta next year?

- Mestre to lead Banco BIC
- Vilela to lead the Caja Rural team that goes (probably the offcuts that don't make the Vuelta team)?
- Marque to lead Efapel
- LA led by César and Fernández if those trades happen, Edgar Pinto if not
- Lampre to return, sending Nelson and Mario but keeping Rui for the Tour? Maybe Plaza?
- Rui Sousa to lead Radio Popular
- W52 to be led by César and Fernández if those trades don't happen?
- Keith Mobel? They have a full Spanish squad of 8 now but can't do Burgos as they're Serbian-registered. How about the other Spanish-but-not-Spanish registered teams, Movistar-Ecuador and Inteja?
- Belda for Burgos-BH again? Presumably not enough numbers for Murias Taldea to do this and Burgos.

Still are. Nibali would not be married if not Agnoli ( at least to the girl he married ;) )

They were really close. I remember Agnoli crying after Nibali won the Giro, but Agnoli was left out of the Nibali support riders group this year and there certainly was friction between both riders. Agnoli was really hurt that he was no longer part of Nibalis main domestiques after all those years of working his *ss of for him.

Imo he had point since Agnoli was always a very reliable domestique for Nibali, but ofcourse we don't know everything.

More news from Portugal.

Hernâni Broco and Jorge Montenegro are leaving Louletano. There are some rumours that Broco will return to LA.

Louletano will be sponsored by Ray Energy Drinks in 2015 and the first transfer announced by ABola newspaper is Marcos García, who is coming from Caja Rural.
