Schleck, Zubeldia, Mollema, and now Hesjedal. Why do teams think if they have enough 2nd and 3rd tier GC riders they will somehow be better than the sum of their parts? Five wins between them in the last three seasons - and 60% of those were Mollema.

Trek is just killing time before they can aggressively pursue Van Garderen next year.

Some rumours for LottoJumbo.

The team just started following six riders on Twitter. They don't follow a lot of pro cyclists. Well actually they are only following their own cyclists on Twitter and that's why this looks kinda serious. The six riders are:

Danny van Poppel (Trek)
Boy van Poppel (Trek)
Nathan Haas (Cannondale-Garmin)
Thomas Sprengers (Topsport Vlaanderen)
Kenneth Vanbilsen (Cofidis)
Lawson Craddock (Giant)

Vanbilsen : thought he had a contract with Cofidis but only for this year it seems so... so possible they are signing him to do what they have a lot of sprinters... to support Vanmarcke?

In fact their only real sprinters are Hofland and Markus. The latter just isn't good enough and will probably not get another contract, and Hofland has been disappointing this year for the most part. Van Poppel has potential for the future, together with Hofland he'd be the designated sprinter and Vanbilsen might function as a lead-out man for them?

They also acquired Van Asbroeck...

For Martin and Hesjedal of all people to be leaving Garmin, the atmosphere there must be really unhappy.

i would argue with a limited budget they could only do so much.

They are going with youth.

Too bad they let Dennis get away

That said they seem to have a disadvantage this year ? All the canondale riders slowed down - hmm ...makes one ask... can't only be the atmosphere...

For Ryder they say that he is a GT winner but he is long past that. Why did they ditch Horner on the pretext of focusing on talent

I agree. He won't win another GT in his career. His one off Giro was a fluke cuz of the even worse caliber field. I would use him strictly as a domestique nowadays. I have no idea what Trek are thinking really by the move.

t's just a rumor I heard today on Eurosport , I do not know if it's true , but the Etixx.QuickStep can hire Nelson Oliveira ( Lampre - Merida )

Think he would fit in their classics roster.

edit: Was it Paulo Martins who said that? Forget it then. Probably got that from a bogus article from a bogus site he works as a shill for.

Familiar face for marketing in North America, his dirty laundry has already been aired, a couple more good years left in the legs.

Despite the recent whinging about results, they keep signing past their prime guys for the marketing department.

He was still very good in the last week of the Giro and there aren't really any better stage racers on the market ATM apart from Rolland. If Mollema gets his mojo back, Hesjedal could be a good foil, he's proven that he's not above it, doing excellent work for Martin in the past.

Jungels leaving Trek confirmed, apparently not enough results in the last season for an improved contract.

Guercilena says he's almost certain to join Etixx next season. I like it, maybe they can give him a better calendar for him.

Now this I like. I hope to see his potential in the cobble classics instead of his current focus on riding top 10 in 1-week stage races by hanging on in the hills/mountains then do a good tt.

Jungels was great in TDF,a big surprise. He looks as he can become a great GC rider but i don't see how a move to Etixx will help him in this direction.

Nieve off?

There's some major trolling around this year. Seriously no way Landa signed for Sky already when his suggested support team ain't signed yet or is leaving.

Either they've in fact all signed in July already and everything else was pure trolling or there wasn't anything signed anytime.

I'm a bit annoyed by time. This whole Landa,Intxausti, Izagirre, Nieve, Valls, Betancur rumors make less sense day by day in reference with each other.

I believed again that they've in fact all sealed deals with Sky the last few days. Now I got absolutely no idea what to think.

Theoretically there is/ was Landa and a full domestique team to pick up. And now only Landa at Sky? Why would he take a lesser paycheck in that case?

In the end they'll end up with Cofidis or something like that. *lol*
