Nice for him to step up to WT. Great rider.
Meh, he's very hit or miss.
I'd rather offer a contract to Sonny Colbrelli, who is going to stay 2 more years with Bardiani after drawing little interest from WT teams.

Looks like Uran is heading to Cannondale.

Riddle: what will be green in 2016, has a long flowing mane, and two of the same last name? Answer tomorrow.

I'm not too thrilled about it.I don't see how this will be an improvement over Etixx :(
Because he is tired of focusing on the Giro.

PD.: Actually they are focusing in winning the Giro. At least that what JV said.

LottoNL Jumbo who dont follow a lot of riders on Twitter recently started following D + B van Poppel, Battaglin, Craddock, Sprengers, Vanbilsen, De Vreese and Haas. All of them could join the team.

Thanks for the link Billie.

@Der Effe, no, he's a great rider with great potential, and my favourite. That's what I'm afraid of. Hope it works out for him.

De Vreese has a contract for 2016.

@BigMac Ah, thanks for the explanation. Joining Lotto-Jumbo could always potentially ruin your career :D . I think Lotto is a better team for him than Giant-Shimano though.

Well that's amazing. After all those rumours of a transfer to Sky this time last year, now no-one wants him.

Re: Re:

Yep Effe, hope so. Should still be leader in California, and not like Giant had that big a presense in the American calendar this year, either. One thing's for sure, he should have greater liberty at Lotto.

Worst riddle ever.

He's had a shite year this year. Like really, really bad compared to last year. I truly hope he can turn it around in time for the world championships, because last year I would've said he is Italy's best chance. If he can win most of the late Italian classics and then maybe it will be a disappointing year, but not atrocious. Such a shame becaus last year was insane. One of the best Pro-Conti riders, and the best ProConti hardman sprinter. 13th in the worlds, 7th in the mass sprint shows that the talent is there.

Maybe he will straight away start working on next year now, but the two-year contract deal is pretty dumb. Take a one year contract and have the season we know he is capable of and then move to a team like IAM, Lampre or maybe Garmin, where the Italian contingent is strong and he can be a leader. Trek now has like 4 riders now that basically do the same thing as him, and all are his age or younger, one is just 22, and another can TT really well and finish 18th in stage with Finestre and outsprint Matthews (once), so Trek is a no-go. Maybe Astana might be a good choice as they have no rider like him, and are very Italian. Lotto NL Jumbo now that Battaglin is there, but staying at Bardiani your whole career when there is that much potential is a waste IMO. No disrespect to Bardiani, but their specailty is finding first or second tier young Italian riders and developing them into better, more mature riders. They don't offer that next step that most World Tour teams can due to a lack of money. Pozzovivo has improved massively since joining AG2R and Modolo after a quiet couple of years has refound himself and won two stages at the Giro with Lampre. Sorry about the long post but it's so frustrating to see good talent not taken further.

due to bad luck mainly, they seem to do better this year especially in ITT's with Heijboers involvement.

I agree with you. Last year he even refused an offer from Sky. Bongiorno/Zardini are a similar case. Don't these guys have some ambition??
Btw Colbrelli had mononucleosis early this year, that's the reason of his shite year. I think he will go to Richmond and probably be again Italy's best rider

Battaglin is the type of rider Lotto Jumbo needs, but can a single Italian adapt to the team because the the current riders all speak dutch apart from Bennett.

Any rumours on Rasmus Guldhammer? Had a great season so far and surely has the potential to be a successful WT-rider.

Really? I feel like he has found his level in pro conti. There he can be competitive in a lot of races and maybe pick up a win or two in .hc or .1 races (he didn't have a single UCI win this year).

He has had a good season this year but I think he should stay where he is.

I don't know Battaglin personally, but yeah it could be a struggle.

Battaglin is a somewhat limited rider, I think. He can go well uphill on not too demanding climbs and he can sprint well in smaller groups and on uphill sprints but he needs the exact right balance to have a shot for the win. Often there is either a better climber or a better sprinter in his group thus making it hard for him to win on a high level.

The fact that 2 out of his 3 wins came at the Giro while riding for Bardiani should have normally been enough for any WT team to figure out why they should say no to him.

But I guess team Mumbo Jumbo have stopped giving a crap.

Another year in a PCT team might not be the worst idea, but it's obvious he had a "breakthrough" year after not fully committing to cycling after his HTC time. He'll be a leader in a PCT team while at WT level, he'll have more helping duties.
Seeing that Cult-Stölting already has confirmed some riders but he is missing indicates he has other offers, that's why i was asking.

Depends what that ambition is. What ambition would they have that would be fulfilled at Sky? To be a domestique at a WT team? For some that's enough. But they might get some leadership roles and more support by staying with Bardiani. There may be external factors involved as well (for example, Pozzovivo didn't want to leave a Pro Conti team until he'd finished his doctorate, while Przemysław Niemiec signed an over-long Miche contract in his 20s due to personal connections that meant he was tearing up Italian .1 and .HC races for a long time before ever getting the chance to do top level races).
