So the merger of Stölting and CULT is now official.

And on that note, the only three Germans at Cult, Mager, Wegmann and Gerdemann are predictably confirmed to Cult-Stolting, as is the Dane Mads Pedersen, and Team Stolting's Lennard Kamna.

Keeping Mads Pedersen and especially Kämna is very good for the team. Who else from the current Stölting roster could make the jump? Werda? Politt, if he doesn't sign for another team?

I reckon they will re-sign Carbel and probably also Guldhammer. Maybe Hnik, even though he hasn't had a great season. There is still some potential in him I believe.

Btw I'm quite sure Kirsch has been confirmed as well.

That's Bettiol, Formolo, (Ted) King, Koren, Marangoni, Mohorič, Moser and Villella. Of whom I'd keep Formolo, Moser and Villella and you can make a case for Bettiol and Mohorič being too young to have shown what they are capable of yet (though you couldn't blame anyone for getting rid of them).
I would also keep Koren. He was very good domestique in this year's TdF. Always there. He was in the front group on echelons stage 2 before he was sent back to help his GC leaders. He stayed with Talansky in the front group as the only team-mate on cobbled stage. He also was the last man with Dan Martin on Mur de Bretagne stage. I would go as far as suggesting he was the best Cannondale rider in the Tour.

Marangoni and Ted King are not really WT level IMO. Bettiol and Mohoric are too young to evaluate. I was sceptical on Moser, but he seemed to have a slight upturn this season. He has 2016 contract anyway, according to procyclingstats. They better keep Formolo, because they need a prospect like him after Martin and Hesjedal leaving the team.

I guess that's the pattern with Vaughters' team, like with the merger with Cervelo. THey get the bike sponsor and 7-8 riders that stay for just 1 season in the merged team.
I think you simplify the situation too much. Haussler and Klier were kept beyond one season, Hammond was going to retire anyway, and Hushovd leaving the team was his decision, they wanted to keep him. So they really got rid of only 3 out of 7 signed riders after one year.

Other than those already confirmed to stay Carbel, Quaade, Kirsch and Zangerle are staying.
Guldhammer would like to stay.

Politt will be joining a world tour team next year, probably katusha. he also is a stagiere at katusha at the moment!

The current team manager of stötling said that they will offer contracts to a few of their young riders in the next days.

Ted King is retiring this year as far as I'm aware. Followed him for some time on Strava.

How strange is the fact that NONE of the Europcar riders have signed anywhere ?
They know an announcement is coming ? No team want Rolland, Coquard, Boudat, or Gautier ? Weird.

They had some sort of agreement with Bernadeau not to sign anywhere else before mid august.

The deadline was 15th of August, and almost a week later, no one has moved.
Don't know if it means Bernaudeau told them he has an announcement to make soon or if no team want them...

He had a big meeting in London on Monday and a decision is expected soon. But then all of these negotiations have been said to be resolved soon and if the British company are so keen, why couldn't he have offered them sponsorship in March or something?

I think the british company wants a Sky like arrangement where it owns the team and if that's the case then the UK could soon have two World Tour teams Sky and Prudential(?).

It's going to be a painful next few months if that's the case.

"Hey JR, now that we're a British team based in Britain and with a British sponsor, let's try and reduce the number of French riders and increase the British ones"

"We can do that, but please don't forget about Vendee U and our years and years of local recruitment?"

"Shut up and sign Josh Edmondson now."

If they get a deal done now there's enough time to make a marquee signing (Cavendish basically) and bring in who he wants. But if they leave the deal til the last minute, it will be Europcar simply under another name, very awkwardly pretending to be British.

I don't really get this signing. JV had Gaimon, who -- while maybe not the most top-notch rider -- has a huge following, has a book out, loads of social media followers, and was perhaps the ballsiest of the anti-doping crowd. But JV dumps Gaimon. Only to pick up, a year later, basically the same rider, but one with not much (till now) of a following, no book, lower social media profile, etc.

Maybe Vaughters doesn't like the new riders' commitment to the original values of his team, which is a perfectly legit reason not to retain them.

They weren't ex-dopers who got off lightly?

Carlos Betancur & AG2r reach an agreement to end the rider's stint in the French team's colours. Colombian now free to look for new squad.

And supposedly so is Pierre Rolland. Would certainly fill the void left by Hesjedal and Martin.

Uran, Rolland, Talansky, Dombrowski, Formolo. Lots of awkward co-leadership at GCs.

But that is so much Garmin. Neither of them, maybe apart from Uran, doesnt have the class to deserve 100% leadership at at GT - yet.

They really need to get at least one of them, preferably both if they wanna at least be decent in the next year. But who knows what Dombro and Formolo evolves into
