Primož Roglič is a good climber and it is a travesty if he is still with Adria Mobil next year.

A Tour helper? Probably not. But a Giro helper then keeping his form for his home race in early June yes.

Apparently he is leaving Adria after the season. Where to and is it pro conti or WT, I don't know.

Roglič is just one of those riders who is made to only participate in non-WT events. I see him as similar to Veloso. Better as a leader in small races than as a dom in bigger races.
But Gustavo César is 34 years old (and back in his Xaco days won the Volta a Catalunya and a Vuelta mountain stage too, so he has done it at the top level in the past) so there's no real long term benefit to bringing him in. Primož is 25 and has only been in cycling for 3 years, with results improving year on year. He's got a much bigger potential upside than César at this point in time, and like Kump could always go back down a level and pick up where he left off if it doesn't pan out, or at least carve out a decent ProContinental niche with one of the Italian second tier teams or someone like CCC if no WT teams are interested.

Besides, back in 2009-10 the guy that that applied to was Przemysław Niemiec, who after signing a 3 year deal with Miche was getting top 10s in all the hilly and mountainous Italian short stage races in the Giro buildup (Settimana Coppi e Bartali, Settimana Lombarda, Trentino) and didn't get to the WT until he was 30, but he's still managed to be a great domestique for Scarponi for a couple of years before getting a Giro top 10 of his own. World beater? No. But useful enough mountain domestique? Definitely.

With Roglič we don't know just yet. There's a good chance he could be a mountainous version of Kump and simply not have it at the higher level when he doesn't get to target races at the .1 level when the WT guys won't be peaking. But he might be more, at a fraction of the cost of many of the riders available.

How did you come up with this conclusion? I'm just curious.

Because it feels good in my stomach. I like it when those kind of riders exist. :D

Ah, ok. I hope you won't be disappointed if he becomes a leader in bigger races in the future. :)

when did Roglic start cycling? 3 years ago or something like that?! And he has improved massively in that relatively short time, I can't really see how anyone can judge his potential yet.

edit: sorry, I missed Libertine's post saying the same

Don't know why many are actually taking what Oleg says seriously on Twitter. Next year Majka is expected to ride both Tour and Vuelta just like this year. Both Tinkoff Bank and Saxo Bank are not willing to spend a lot of money on someone and the priority right now is Sagan who lost Matti, Michael and Chris. So pretty much is just about two signings for Peter and a neo pro. Heard they're after a good GC U23 rider who has many WT contract offers but doesn't want to turn pro yet. So basically don't expect much or anything…

Sam Bewley re-signs for 2 years with OGE. The current state of play here is that they now have 16 riders under existing contracts or who have re-signed with the team

Albasini, Bewley, Chaves, Cort, Durbridge, Ewan, Gerrans, Hepburn, Howson, Impey, Keukeleire, Matthews, Meier, Tuft, A.Yates, S.Yates.

They have 6 confirmed new signings:
Edmondson (neo), Haig (neo), Juul-Jensen, Mezgec, Power (neo), Tzurruka

They have 5 departures with confirmed "new homes"
Blythe, Clarke, Howard, Mouris & Weening. Meyer & Santaromita are listed as departures but as yet no confirmed destinations.

Therefore the situation is 22 currently contracted riders. The following remain unconfirmed with regards to their futures.
Docker (age 29), Hayman (age 37) & Lancaster (age 36 at start of 2016 season).

All three COULD be re-signed bringing numbers up to 25 although there are reports of looking for another experienced climber. If the latter is the case then at least one of the above may be on the way out given the touted move to smaller team numbers post 2016.
.

Hayman and White are close friends and he still seems fresh. I'm sure is going to sign for another contract.

Lancaster, on the other hand, seems to have declined. And they have enough young, upcoming engines like Howson, Durbridge and Hepburn.

And isn't Igor Anton already semi-confirmed as the new climber on the team?

I doubt that. They need a man for the Giro and I'm sure Majka wants to lead a GT.

Are there still big shots that haven't (re)signed for next season?
A team like Lotto-Soudal has a number of places left and should also have some money left after VDBs exit, so I'm curious if we'll still see some big moves.

If Dani Moreno signs with Movistar as it is expected as of right now, I can't see anyone "big" left out there. :(

Only GVA and Moreno.

But I think GVA will re-sign with BMC and Moreno is excepted to go to back to Movistar.

But you're right. Lotto could need some climbers. Having Valls is not enough. Tinkoff also need at least one, maybe two or three more.

On the not signed list you have Oss, Bole, Lutsenko, Pellizotti, Nocentini, Plaza, Torres, Atapuma, Siutsou, Arroyo, Anton, Devolder, Santaromita, The Fat Cat, Pozzato, Ciolek, Serpa, Ten Dam, Leukemans, Ponzi, Ulissi, Rubiano and Acevedo.

You also have jokers like Horner, Ballan and Jonathan Tiernan-Locke who might make a comeback.

Chris Horner is available and I am sure is very cheap. He also fits the TCS age profile. :D
Probably a more wiling dom than Majka for Contador :D

Seriously Duarte & Plaza are free and not bad options

It seems so strange to me to have the world champion & best rouler in the world and to have lost nearly all his support

You have the best GT rider who wants to target his final 2 GTs ( Tour & Vuelta) and not have enough good top doms

Its like wearing a diamond tiara with a house coat, apron & trainers.

Tinkov doesn't seem to understand .....you go all in or you go home

Sometimes I feel Uncle Oleg is scaring all potential signings away with his crazy antics, on the other hand it can't be too bad if riders like Tosatto, Bennati, Rogers, Contador, experienced riders who won't take this crap, extend their contracts. Although maybe because they are experienced and "don't take ***" they can just ignore the crazy Uncle.
Or maybe Oleg says "I know where your family lives & I have friends"
