The World Tour has lost all its meaning... Now Team Dimension Data can stay in it after all... Because they probably offered a big bag of money to the UCI. Disgusting! The team barely had any points. Yeah, they had a great Tour, but is that all that matters anymore in cycling? Apparently so. I don't know why teams even bother to gain points anymore. There aren't even enough teams anymore to fill all WT slots, so they have to drag in pathetic excuses like TDD. Sponsors are leaving this sport because the UCI's failing policies.
Dimension Data team was about to be relegated because ASO wanted to have more freedom in selecting wildcard teams to their races and therefore agreed with UCI that there would be only 17 mandatory WT teams. But since it became obvious that DD would not make the WT 17, ASO realized that they would anyway invite them due to sponsorship deal and Cav and so it no longer matters to them whether they invite them mandatorily or as a wildcard. Therefore, given the "general interest" to keep Dimension Data WT, ASO agreed that they will not require UCI to fulfil that part of the deal about 17 WT teams (and maybe got something else in return).

But I agree with you it's pathetic how incompetent UCI can be in running the sport as far as rules and policies are concerned.

They are in a position when they don't need to pay bigger paychecks to attract the best riders.

Their best asset is already under contract and is named Oli Cookson.

I personally know a lot of CEOs of big businesses who tell me they will never sponsor a cycling team unless the UCI make it clear once and for all that winning five Tour stages is not as good as a top 10 in Poland.

Well, if you want to give points based on TV ratings flat stages should give the least amount of points because they attract the fewest amount of viewers.

In fact all the news on ONE:

Karol Domagalski, Kristian House, Pete Williams and Steele Von Hoff have agreed deals for 2017 and will join, Tom Baylis, George Harper, Joshua Hunt, Hayden McCormick, James Oram, Dion Smith and Sam Williams who are in the second year of their Neo Pro contracts.

...

While Yanto Barker and Matt Goss have announced their retirement from professional racing, ONE Pro Cycling confirmed that Marcin Bialoblocki, John Ebsen, Richard Handley, Sebastian Lander, Martin Mortensen, Chris Opie and Glenn O’Shea will not form part of the roster for 2017.

And yet I see no tweet...

Actually he's here in this photo of Sky's 2017 team (I think):

**** **** **** I feel sick

Jesus, what an evil person this guy rosa. He choose a team that gives him the most money.

Who does that?

so so evil. does he not care about all the little hearts he broke? :p
how could i tolerate it if rosa will help to crush my beloved riders from now on? not good.

The pain he will inflict on behalf of Chris, Mikel and Wout will be intense. Hell if Kwaitkowski is in good shape this alo but guarantees Amstel will end in a decent sized bunch sprint.
