I actually think Michal Schlegel is a very interesting young rider! Even a little underrated gem perhaps. Perhaps.. I look forward to seeing him and Jan Hirt race together in 2017, absolutely.

I am a little intrigued by Schlegel's apparently good test results.

Czech Republic, have a good history and produced many fine riders. In the junior ranks, they have Richard Holec (1999) who looks extremely promising, raced together with Brandon Mcnulty at Team Lux for example. I think he can be good on the road as a pro some day... Jakub Otruba as well maybe, hard to judge!

It wasn't confirmed.

If you read the full article you can see "Cyclingnews understands that the agreement to stay was made around the time of the Olympic Games in August." and "Team Sky would not confirm the news when contacted by Cyclingnews but added that they would be announcing several rider re-signings in the coming weeks."

So unless Team Sky confirms, it is not confirmed.

But yes, he will stay. He is at Sky's training camp, he won one of their awards, so there is no doubt besides the lack of official confirmation.

It's very weird to think that not very long ago Farrar was one of the two or three fastest sprinters in the world and Anton was, although very inconsistent, one his day one of the best climbers in the world.

I dont think he's really lost that much. He was truly only competitive before the emergence of Greipel, Kristoff, Sagan, Degenkolb, Kittel etc etc. Sprints have gotten much more competitive since Farrar was winning.

Focusing on GT sprints was always a curious move. Seems much more of a classics rider. I always thought that might have been a business decision influenced by JV/Garmin. TDF stages being more valuable than classics when it comes to publicity in the US.

Yes and I'm also a bit surprised about the fact that Koshevoy hasn't already found a new team and is searching for a team on Twitter! Ok, he didn't have a great season, but he was climbing pretty well in San Luis and the Tour of Turkey and a fed PCT teams or even a few weaker WT teams that lack climbing domestiques could need someome like him.
Then again, last year strong riders like Monsalve and Finetto didn't even get a contract at PCT-level, so who knows...

If he was only a sprinter because he was ordered to be, he was lucky to have been ordered to be. Despite being effectively washed up by 27 or 28 he has a palmares he would never achieved as a classics rider.

the Bianchi owners are so dumb they re-new their LottoNL supply every year, for 1 more year.

they dont even understand how you can create some trust in your clients, let alone thinking about setting up a team...

They apparently work together quite well with LottoNL in the last two years though. Especially Kruijswijk praised them for delivering him good (time trial) bikes. Also they commercially strengthen Kruijswijk's desire to focus on the Giro rather than the Tour which should be appreciated!
