Posted in stage thread but may as well add it here because it's fun to think about even if it is garbage.

Beppe Conti on Rai just now: Contador for one year to Trek-Segafredo, then Aru will go there and Segafredo will take over sponsorship so it becomes an Italian team. Also Dumoulin to Etixx-QuickStep
The Dumoulin thing sounds weird. Those Segafredo rumors sound very plausible though.
Contador to Trek-Segafredo would be cool, I want to see a "how's that coffee Contador?" commercial for Segafredo. :D
I don't know if it's true, but they have the money and he'd have enough strong climbing support, Fränk Schleck riding for Contador would be pretty sweet.
Dumoulin to Etixx, I don't know if that will happen.
Oh :D
But I really don't like Trek as a team, probably only Sky would be worse for me

Was a remote possibility in 2010.

With Degenkolb possibly moving to Trek, I can imagine that Giant will go for Matthews. They can fill the gap that there is after Kittel (and Degenkolb). Going for stages in the GT's, MSR for example. Matthews will have a very dedicated support team/train, maybe not the greatest riders, but as a team they have achieved some remarkable stuff. At Giant Matthews can be a team leader with full support.

Another point/question: Is Steven de Jongh still busy with his team? Maybe he's involved with the Basso/Contador team, since he's in good terms with Alberto.

Yeah, Matthews actually spent some time in the low countries with rabo dev. team, so he should fit in. There's also the fact that he's a world citizen, he doesn't need to be down under to show good results (like some other ozzies)

De Jongh wanted to start his own team, seperate from Contador's (and Basso's) plan, but he said a while ago in Dutch media that if neither of them would be able to get sufficient sponsor support, he would be open to combining their plans

Rumors Alberto and Basso are getting Oleg´s license for 2017 and starting their team

Equally interesting and exciting.

Where did you hear this might I ask?
Gazzetta reported that Alberto and Basso will start a team for next season, Alberto will ride for this team and there should be news before the Tour. But I don't know if that report said anything about Tinkoff's licence.

Watch to see which riders start unexpectedly helping Contador in the TdF, and we'll know which WT riders are going to ride for Team Berto-Basso 2017. :D

Or are unsuccessfully auditioning.

Sagan to Astana. Please tell me this is a f...ing joke

I hope that he doesn't go to Astana.
For some reason I have always thought that Lampre would be a good team for sprinter like Sagan. They have a team that could help him in tougher sprint stages. I might be completely wrong though because I'm not a cycling expert.
Maybe when they get more money as the rumors say they could afford him.

Sagan has contract with Specialized. They pay him 1m. He will go to a team that rides Specialized bikes. It's most likely he already signed the contract with Astana imho.

Astana seems perfect fit whatever anyone thinks. It has that Eastern feel, and Sagan is more comfortable alongside his Eastern bros. Plus Astana has quite decent support on cobbles already for him. Add him leadout and strong flat guy and Sagan will have it heavenly at Astana. And with Nibali, Rosa and few others leaving, Astana will be built on Sagan and Aru.

I have to admit that it makes sense when taking Specialized bikes into consideration and without doubt Astana is a strong team. Just something about it doesn't feel quite right in my mind but I'm not exactly sure what it is.
I have to say that for a Eastern team Astana certainly has an Italian feel to it because there are many riders and staff members from Italy.

I don't see how they can afford him with the current of the Kazakh economy, I'm personally not ruling him out as a bribe for Sky to change suppliers. I just don't see how Astana can afford that contract.

I can actually see that happening, sky will go Specialized and take Sagan with them, I think Sagan is just looking for a big team with a lot of money he's not fussed about lead outs

Astana will be freeing up some cash with Nibali and a few others on the way out and wherever Sagan goes I can assure you Specialized will stump up money to cover some of his wage bill so even with a reduced budget Astana can still afford Sagan

Might get a better deal with another brand, teams swap bike brands often enough

where is this rumour coming from?
Contracts are up and apparently Brailsford is open to switching brands, Specy also apparently threw a bank vault at Sky in 2013.

That was due to the cost to keep Sky, Specy were apparently offering something like €5 million and Trek would have likely bought a few RadioShack riders.
