EQS yeah, that will be a goodie. Sky probably... Movistar? All about the Don unless Betancur shreds those kilos and gets back into the groove which seems unlikely at this point as much as I'd like it.
I like EQS signing Gilbert, him and Boonen on the same that, yummy.

So if Lampre (or what will be) keeps a licence for the next year and UCI have to choose between Bora and Bahrein-Merida for the last spot available it's an obvious choice.
Bora is almost certain of his spot, i think it's impossible that Sagan will left out of WT.LaFlorecita said:

Wasn't it stated that the amount of WT teams would be reduced to 17 in 2017 and 16 in 2018? I'm not sure but I think I've read something like that.TMP402 said:

Does Bahrain even need a WT license when there's a high chance they'd just get wildcards for any event they really care about like Cervelo in the past.

I understand your nostalgic feeling towards Lampre of course. But somehow I ain't feel very sorry if they really disappear. As outstanding as their jerseys always have been as useless has the team itself usually been. They were decent back in the Tonkov years (although when he won the Giro it was under Panaria sole sponsorship) and Simoni's 2001 Giro win as well as Rumsas TdF podium were impressive. Other than that - well except in 2005 after the Saeco merger maybe - the team has more often been a disappointment than a pleasure tbh. Beginning with Casagrande, Cunego's failures to repeat his 2004 Giro performance, Costa's failure of becoming a gt gc rider, their anonymity in the big grand tours except 2015, their inability to find a true gt leader once Gibo left in 2005 and Cunego became mediocre except Scarponi's Giro results in 12 & 13 which were pretty meh as well if you put into perspective how he got slaughtered by Contador and embarrassed himself at the Vuelta later that year, their inability to develop young Italians they picked up from continental teams, the fact that ain't nobody knows why some riders even get a paycheck from Lampre other than to fill-up the team's rooster etc. pp. (I might be a bit harsh towards them I know. It ain't all as dark shadowed as I drew it!)
If they get a bigger budget due to the new Chinese owner and Philippe Maduit takes over as the general manager they might improve big time compared to the last years since 2012!
Edith adds that Lampre has had a some kinda good classics squad back in the Ballan / Cunego years and that the Pettacchi & Hondo combo has been great. But like I said, since 2012 - apart from the surprisingly good 2015 season - they've been pretty disappointing most time.
