This sounds messy

If, as reported, the Bahrain Merida team takes over the Lampre Merida WorldTour license then all contracted riders at Lampre Merida for 2017 would transfer to the Bahrain Merida squad for the start of next season.
I thought the team would just take over Merida as a sponsor with Lampre moving down to ProConti. There are 2 other WT licenses available for teams that are disappearing, why would Bahrain not take over one of those? It makes no sense for them to take over Lampre's WT license, including the entire setup, if Lampre wants to continue.

They would have to completely rebuild an entire squad unless of course Bahrain didn't want all the riders who have contracts with Lampre for next season, they currently have 13 riders under contract for next season in Meintjes, Modolo, Mohoric, Bono, Consonni, Durasek, Ferrari, Ganna, Kump, Niemiec, Petilli, Ravasi, Zurlo. I can't see the Bahrain setup wanting all those riders.

Pantano to Trek confirmed.
Has Contador been officially confirmed yet?

According to Pantano he is. It seems like his drawing card was to ride with Pistolero

No, not yet. But both De Jongh and Pantano confirmed he will ride for Trek next season.

Weird Trek haven't announced it then yet, considering everyone's known for sure since the Tour rest day
Trek usually have those nonsensical PR announcements, like spreading out the announcement of their TDF team over like 5 days, I expect something similar now.

Edit: Degenkolb to Trek confirmed

Epic lulz. Until now Trek has been pretty much a publicity-only team (bar Cancellara), but this year's mercato could see them step up to a team that can actually compete in a fair amount of races. What they desperately need to do though is increase their roster and race calendar.

But now with both the Schlecks gone and Laurent Didier past his pride, I no longer have any interest in Trek, and instead declare my favorite team of all time to be, as it always has been, Etixx Quick Step.
