Has there been any confirmation or alternative source for the Elissonde transfer?

Whoever made that one up must be loving the outrage levels.

What makes you so convinced it isn't true?
I first saw it from the CN homepage, and they - usually - have their sources in order...

Not convinced, just sceptical - it's a rumour, and CN quote the same source as originally noted here, Velopro, but perhaps they have some corroboration. We'll see I guess :)

Fair enough then

No WT or at least pro-conti team for Timothy Dupont? I could see him winning Amstel next year if he participated.

He had an offer from LottoNL-Jumbo but he wants to stay in Veranda's Willems. Their manager said they are going to be PCT next year.

Has there been any word on Jay McCarthy yet? He's progressing well and is still young, hope he's going to a WT team next year.

Rumoured to Bora.
Good if it's true, Sagan will want at least one or two familiar domestiques.
He has already one family domestique, though. :p
And he has his friends Bodnar, Baska and Kolar :)

i am surprised OBE hasn't grabbed McCarthy - His range of skills would siut the team.

I agree, he could probably win future TDU's and he'd be a good medium mountain domestique.
In time he could also develop for the Ardennes (mostly AGR), but maybe OBE feel they've got enough riders for those.

That would be my read. He'd certainly be useful but is he necessarily an advance on what they already have on their books ? Certainly Gerrans & Albasini may be nearing the end (but can still play valuable roles) but then you have the likes of Impey who covers a lot of bases as a super-domestique (case in point 2016 Tour) plus able to bring in results. Then you have the three GC guys who can all contend for hilly one dayers then the potential with Haig, Power with Cort potentially crossing over from cobbles to the likes of MSR & AGR.

Think he'd probably fit into the category of being a "nice to have on the books" rather than a front-line signing priority.

I'm sure they'd love to have him if they wish to have strong teams at all 3 GTs. So perhaps Jay would be concerned about whether he'd get enough opportunities for himself and is looking to join a squad with less depth?

I think he'd get similar chances at Bora and OBE. If I was him, OBE all the way, no-brainer.

I can agree with what both of you are saying and, personally, I'd quite like to see him at OBE as I think he could be valuable at worst and, if Gerrans & Albasini decide to step down at the end of 2017, he see further opportunities. However, there are only X number of spots available on their roster (currently 23 confirmed signings) and a finite budget.

IS he really a significant "upgrade" on existing riders of similar characteristics on their books and, given he may want precedence for certain races; precisely WHICH races could you justify granting his such status ?

What is his asking price and do you think it warranted ?

I don't necessarily know the answer to those questions; you can certainly put up very plausible arguments for both affirmative and negative. I'm not quite sure he's a "must have" but if they do snag him, good.

he has good amount of WT points. He should get a nice contract from one of the teams that need points

Does any team give a *** about WT points? aren't there exactly 18 teams for 18 spots this year?

nope 19

next year they will be 17 spots
with 18 teams fighting for a spot (Chinese-Lampre, Bahrain, DiData in the fight for a spot)
