Gilbert talks with Etixx.

In 2012 this would've meant Big Phil's becoming a future gt winner. Now, Gilbert is old and this ain't the 90's, neither the Zeros anymore.

Astana or Etixx still might be good enough for a little renaissance as a (cobbled) classics rider, though. Hopefully he strikes it up once again for a successful fall of his career

Contador said that he already chose a team for 2017...
So he got someone to pay him megabucks at the twilight of his career? Huh, I guess there's a sucker born every minute.

How did you figure out that he will get a massive contract? Or is your logic - he will only sign a megabucks contract -> he signed a contract -> he will get megabucks.
The only thing mentioned is that he signed a contract. Did you expect no one to offer him a contract at all?

I don't think Contador will ride for peanuts.
So what you are saying is that you're suprised a team offered him a contract? Did you expect him to retire because no one could offer what he demanded?
I'm surprised someone's willing to pay that much for someone who's clearly on his way down.

How do you know how much he signed for?

Quick Question: Might Zdenek Bakala be interested in Kreuziger?

Don't think so. While Bakala is not directly associated with the Czech Cycling Federation, It is clear that due to his bad reputation and his past Clinic related issues he was left out of the Rio squad even though he won the Czech title today and he probably has the best chance of winning among the Czech riders.

My personal guess is that he is staying with Contador or he is going back to Astana. Third pick would be slaving for Nib at Bahrain.

You sure? I thought it was his decision to not go to Rio due to clashing with his Tour - Vuelta program.

Just to clarify I meant that most teams would happily, if they had the money, sign Contador for a large sum of money.
Yeah, I think you're right. Even if he can't win the Tour anymore, he can still win stages and other races and he guarantees a lot of media exposure. He's not worth 5 million anymore (and I doubt he even gets that much at Tinkoff these days) but definitely a million or two

Actually he was left out because he and Czech Cycling Team agreed to be it this way. He said today in press that he would not be able to prepare for Tour, Olympics and Vuelta at the same time. So no connection to "bad reputation".

Brings a great deal of exposure to a team and its sponsors, same reason Cav still gets a seven figure cheque from DD>
