So Vivi is replacing Kittel?

QS keeps double downing on single stage wins & classics than week long & GT races it seems....
They got rid of the 2nd best sprinter, they still have the best..... ;)

Jokes aside, perfectly reasonable from QS. Gaviria will lead next year and Vivi will ride the Giro other races where Gaviria wont be present.

the race that matters

...

If you consider only one race matters, why are you in here discussing signings of youngsters who won't matter for that race for many years if ever?
Have I actually discussed the signings of any riders? I don't recall.

So you go into other topics looking to go off-topic?

Yes, I agree. Gaviria is the guy they are betting on and is perfectly suited to their priorities so even though Kittel is still faster in a flat drag race than anyone at the moment and is a lot faster than Viviani, he's not worth the money he would cost or the potential friction with Gaviria. Viviani on the other hand is at the right cost/speed level to be their guy when Gaviria isn't there. And as he's their fall back guy, they probably won't stop him from riding track. Meanwhile Kittel gets to be the main man somewhere else as his speed deserves. Everyone wins.

Agree with Flo's post.

Viviani's move to Quick Set is a win for both parties - Viviani will get sprint support and ride a GT, while Viviani will be a vital part to their classics squad - De La Cruz move to Sky must be about money - Quick step is focusing a bit more on GC , so have a growing cohort of climbers in Martin, Jungels, Brambilla, Mas etc - A strange move by De la Cruz

it always is with sky....apparently

Stop littering this thread with un-necessary posts - My opinion about the move of De La Cruz had nothing to do with Sky - Many riders move for more money, some rider moves appear unwise, some move for more opportunity, some move for a change of scenery - You are MAKING it about Sky.

Lol your post was all about sky and they money they have, if you don't want posters bringing up sky then don't talk about sky, you said he was going for the money so how's that not all about sky?

I wonder how much Viviani's performances will improve now that he has a team used to prepare sprints and who commits resources to this.

In Quick-Step he should also be able to keep doing track, mainly in the 6-day races in the winter.

Dumoulin didn't get involved in that Rabofail show and look at him now! Serves them well after what they did to Rasmussen...
He actually rode for Rabobank Continental. But when they chose Jetse Bol over him to become professional, he went to (then) Argos Shimano.
So we have Jetse Bol to thank for Dumoulin not failing.

No good news to have De la Cruz and Castroviejo at SKY, becouse I dont want a very strong SKY and they are good riders. Anyway SKY loses Landa and Nieve

Coquard as a main and only leader... I know that he's got a potential, but now he isn't able to bring a decent result in any kind of races.

Maybe if Bryan have a wonderful spring they will have a chance to get wild card on TdF.

TDF wildcard teams are announced in January, so Coquard's spring can't save him.

Will ASO want to have 2 ProConti teams who are fully dedicated to their sprinter? I don't think there's space for a team dedicated to Bouhanni and another to Coquard. Wanty have Guillaume Martin and they did a great tour this year. I see them with pole position to the last WC spot.

Great signings by Sky, both have the potential to be world class climbers. Something tells me David De la Cruz will fill the role between Nieve and Landa, not slaving in every race like Nieve and still have some freedom like Landa. Castro basically is Kiri, just shorter and very aerodynamic and therefore not shielding too much

Great Tour? They were nonexistent.

Wanty will have next to zero chance to get invited next year. Any half decent French Proconti squad will be ahead of them.

Yeah, they werent exactly great and Martin rode extremely anonymous despite actually riding well for a rider at his age in his first Tour.
