i guess the brothers have their personal ambitions..
I think there is another reason. After hiring Landa and keeping Valverde and Quintana there is simply no money left to pay decent wages for good helpers. That's why so many of them are leaving. I mean, if they are even going to Cofidis you know that the situation is serious.

Well Cofidis may be offering over the odds to get that Vuelta invitation - Navarro is so irrelevant now that the Vuelta must be thinking about it.

As long as Cofidis keeps sponsoring the Vuelta, they are in no matter what.

Does anyone have information on the young Brit, Christopher Lawless, and the American, Neilson Powless? As I am not familiar with either of them I would like to know what their strengths are.

Lawless is basically a sprinter, but not a pure one. He came 2nd in the National RR Championships this year, the first rider after Cummings, which is reasonably impressive. He's also capable in TTs, but then a lot of young sprinters are. I don't know how good he is on the cobbles, but he can climb well enough for a sprinter.

It amazes me how this failure of a team is able to make those signings.
Cofidis pays higher salaries than many WT teams.
Just terrible management.
Signing the Herrada bros when you could've thrown a big paycheck at Vanmarcke & Van Baarle somehow looks goofy as well.
I think they are way cheaper than Vanmarcke and Van Baarle.
I think it does make sense, in the French calendar they could deliver good results and they already have some Spaniards who have integrated very well.

Maybe Movistar wants to strengthen it's support team with some riders from their Colombian farm team!
Oscar Soliz (Bolivia) is probably their only rider of interest... And I highly doubt is WT material... Maybe a PCT domestique.

As other have said, the concern is that MOV has too many leaders (I'd include Betancur if he has matured mentally) and no helpers.

He'd be useful if they'd ride a gt in the Andes or in Colorado, not so much at normal altitude.

I fail to see why De La Cruz would want to go to Sky. If he's not going to be a 100% slave, then what races is he going to target that he can't target now? Another guy who can top5 La Vuelta becomes a part of the train. Choo fcking choo.

The only reason why a lot of riders clip their ambitions. Money.

Short career, if Sky is offering for example €1,000,000 a year for three years to ferry Froome up the Madeline and another team is offering €250,000 for the same period but you get to hang on for dear life as the guy who took the million makes the freedom you chose seem like a waste of time, then we have no right to complain when guys take the money. It's their career.

Well yes, don't hate the player, hate the game. Super budget teams screw up the structure of the sport. The riders are making rational decisions within the distorted structure.

Powless is a good TTer and good climber, so potentially a GC rider of some sort.

Official budget caps? - it wouldn't solve any problem.
Look at the football. There are 3-5 clubs with the biggest budgets (Real, Barca, PSG, maybe MU or MC) but still they won't be able to spend 200 mio euro on a single player (their official debt would be too high). And we have Neymar's transfer - appropriate sponsor's agreement solved this problem. And finally Bayern and Borussia cryies they'll never win CL.
Now Sky apparently has the biggest budget - but are you sure that UAE or Bahrain will not defeat them in 2018 or 2020?
