Yeah, I figured that out eventually. :p

Besides, if he only got French citizenship in 2017 that might explain why he was riding as a Russian before that. I mean, you can't ride for a country you don't actually have citizenship of, can you?

I mean some countries just give you citizenship if you will represent them at the Olympics.

So Astana will add to their Danish colony with Jonas Gregaard, joining them as a stagiaire on the 1st of August, probably riding Post Danmark Rundt as his first race. I don't know what kind of rider he is, but yeah, another Dane on Astana for the moment being at least.

It's a very slow take-over!

Of course that would require Valgren and Hansen staying. "Get one, lose two" isn't a very good strategy in terms of a take-over.

Can we stick to straight transfer news and relevant discussion - Jokes can go in another thread.

To add a bit about the guys mentioned:
Hansen needs to show something in order to stay at the team.
Valgren probably have quite a pick of teams wanting to sign him, he's been pretty good this spring.

Teunissen from Sunweb back to LottoNL, so not Bahrein, according to De Telegraaf (they are usually right).
Gesink extends his contract at LottoNL until 2021.

Teunissen will have a free role for the cobbled classics (since Boom didn't deliver). And will be integral to the sprint train for Groenewegen

In what thread exactly are we allowed to make jokes? Nothing wrong with a little levity - it doesn't detract from the thread, you're still getting the same information.

Gesink must not be getting paid much as I can't see much value signing him for a three contract. One year okay. He's basically a rider for the breakaway these days who can also do okay in the hilly classics. Rather see the spot go to a developing rider.

Gesink might not be a top3 rider of his team anymore but I don't see a point in suggesting he doesn't deserve a (three year) contract. He is still a consistent rider who provides valuable breakaway/domestique (in big races) and leadership (in smaller races) options and he is still climbing better than most of the riders. If you want younger riders to get a chance, there are dozens of riders in WT who deserve to go ahead of Gesink.

Rumours going around Tour presentation today is that G will be leaving Sky at the end of the season.

Expected arrivals are Pinot, Caruso and Amador.

Rumours of Izagirre brothers again, they tried to get them a couple of years ago.

That would be quite the haul to restock the farm.

There's also rumors that if Quintana leaves Movistar this year the Izagirre brothers are headed back to Movistar.

Caruso is a great man for Bahrain and for Nibali. If Cataldo would also go there it would even be better. And Sosa. And Ciccone.
