Wout Van Aert to Lotto Jumbo in 2020.
Laurens De Plus to Lotto Jumbo in 2019.
I like what Lotto-Jumbo is doing.

They have developed Groenewegen and Roglic into two great riders. De Plus seems to have a lot of potential if he can stay healthy and Van Aert should be great in classics.

Good job.

Two great signings indeed. Van Aert might already be at Lotto in 2019, depending on Veranda's Willems financial position for next season.

Is that a good move for De Plus? Thought he might have an opportunity of developing as a GC rider at Quickstep, given that they've only really got Alaphillipe. At Lotto he'll presumably just be domming for Roglic or SK.

When has Quickstep ever developed a GC-rider?

Jungels is a decent gc rider nowadays and de la cruz was about to top 10 a gt too. Other than that nobody comes to my mind immediately but tbf they never had that many great prospects

Brailsford denied to have ever talked to Remco Evenepoel, who is joining Quick-Step. The truth is Sky offered him a 5-year deal, which he rejected. Once a lying coward, always a lying coward.

Hmm... I'm a bit confused about the legal matters in this.
Teams and riders are not allowed to make it public if a rider has signed with a new team for the 2019 season before August 1., but it's okay - judging by the Van Aert situation - to make it public earlier if a rider has signed for the 2020 season?

Lol relax, he was clearly dancing around the question by always responding with "I". He never talked in the name of Sky nor did he straight away deny that Sky offered a contract. So no he wasn't lying. Just kind of childish if you ask me.

Rumor that Carlos Verona is headed to Movistar.

Posted months ago this was likely to happen.

Sorry that I missed it. It seems the rumor are very prevalent now about it.

Think I may have posted it in the Movistar thread and asked if anyone could confirm the information. Apparently their management was impressed with his form in early season Spanish races - Anyway the rumours are that Erviti will move to Mitchelton Scott.

You may have. Interesting about Erviti. I thought he might retire at the end of this year. During the off season he'd made a comment to Valverde along the lines of one more year my friend. I'll be here for you for one more year.

Technically he wasn't lying, but the game of semantics he was playing tells all about that man's godawful character.

Gazzetta Dello Sport is out with a rumour, that Valgren is to sign with Dimension Data.

Seems like an odd rumour to me, as that team is quite rich on similar rider types.

I only see him going there, if he is guaranteed a captains spot, in which case, with guys like Pauwels, Boasson Hagen, Cummings, Slagter & Vermote riding for him, that would make quite a strong classics team.

Cummings riding for anyone but himself? Lol.

I think it's a weak and horrible team for him. He's way too good to be there and is much better off at Astana.

Well ok, that first part is true, and made me laugh :D

But hey, as long as he sits at the back, he is perfectly positioned to fetch bottles

As for the other part, I question if Astana is the right place for him.

For instance, had he ridden the tour for DD, he would have been in the mix for several other stage wins, outside of today.... and today, he could have won.

I also question whether Astana often prioritize the wrong riders for races, leaving the team less than perfect, because they have to include kazak riders, for political reasons.

But then, does DD always have to include south african riders? - Must admit not having followed them closely

For Nieuwsblad, Valgren will ride for Trek next year. We will see...

That one makes more sense

Danish DS who will prioritise him, and him with Pedersen, Stuyven and a reborn Degenkolb, will mean Trek can give QS a very hard time in the classics season, and he is great GT support, for whatever GC captain Trek picks up for next season

I think they always have African riders in the big races but I'm with you on the "not having followed them closely"-wagon.

Though enough to assess that they are the worst team in the WorldTour and not deserving of Valgren.

Edit: And I agree; Trek is a much better choice.

I get why people think Dimension Data is a bad choice, and yes, its a downright shitty team. Horrible. But he will be the captain in the classics, he can be free to do whatever in the Tour and I feel thats very important. These guys should only bury themselves for the absolute best GT-riders instead of riders like Fuglsang, Dan Martin, Zakarin etc. In a Tour with more breakaway friendly stages, it could suddenly get a lot of fun instead of being limited by having to support a guy like Jakob 'podium' Fuglsang.

Jose Been (Eurosport) says tomorrow there is a special QST pressco. Transfer? Renews? New sponsor deal?
