not that Fuglsang is a regular on GT podiums ... according to wikipedia his best result was being 7th in TdF 2013 .... if you choose (or have no other option than) to be a domestique, you're definitely better off working for a guy who regularly delivers (in GT Froome or Dumoulin; the top notch sprinters or in classics Sagan, GvA, Valverde) rather than someone who has absolutely no history of delivering at all ....

Reckon you are on the money - BMC have never had a top line sprinter while Martin ca provide support for GVA.

If he’s focusing on classics with GVA, then it makes sense to also have a sprinter for the grand tours, because with no gc rider, and no sprinter, you’d be going to most grand tours for 3 weeks hoping to pick up one or two out of 4 or 5 possible stage wins, and that’s it.GuyIncognito said:

I tend to agree but I'm not 100% sure. Just look at how many classics qs won this year and who won. If a guy like lampaert can win races for that team Valgren can too. The problem qs has is that with Gilbert and terpstra their two strongest classics riders are already pretty old so they should get some fresh blood. Yeah, but he doesn't want to be "one of the guys that win races" - he is getting that at Astana already.
