Roche and Dombrowski is a significant upgrade on Geschke, who Sunweb lost. They still don’t have a “super domestique” level climber who will be there when there are seven or eight guys left, but they do have the rest of a Tour contenders team now.

You don't think Keldermann fits this?

It’s not Kangert his fault Fuglsang is a very mediocre GT-rider, why would anyone work for a guy who practically gets dropped on every single occasion of importance? Now please stop this utterly tedious discussion and let’s talk about transfers.

Seems like the first Aqua Blue rider to find a new team is Shane Archbold, who would join Lotto Jumbo’s sprinting train.

Good signing. Archbold lost his spot on Bora, where he was Bennett’s final leadout, because of a season long injury. He showed he was healthy again at Aquablue, but didn’t accomplish that much largely because Aquablue didn’t have anyone notably faster than him for him to help. He will be useful to Groenewegen and strengthening the train sends Groenewegen a message that he’s not being forgotten about with their stronger GC focus. LottoNL are a very well managed team these days (not something anyone would have said about them for many years)

Isn't Groenewegens train working perfectly with Jansen and Roosen? I'd assume they signed him to better Van Poppels train. Wagner is getting older and while he can still pass on a lot of experience, as he did with Groenewegen over the years, he could slip down in the hiearchy of the lead out with Archbold stepping in as a last man.

He could be last man for Van Poppel, fit further up a train for Groenewegen or even be last man for Groenewegen (whose biggest weakness at the moment is his positioning). He’s a utility sprinters helper. If he hadn’t missed all of last season, Bora would never have let him go.

We will see. At the moment I have some difficulty seeing Keldermann as one of the top 10 climbers at the Tour.

Weird that people seem to think, that domestiques can just decide for themselves to do no work, because they deem their captain mediocre :D

If you find the debate tedious, don't take part in it :)
The Astana DS aren't *** and aren't telling Kangert to babysit a mediocre GC-rider throughout the whole race that lost so much time on the first MTF

i wouldn't be signing Roche at the moment. The past season or two he hasn't shown much and he is edging closer to retirement.

It is a big stretch to see Roche as a top quality domestique. I mean, you can "road captain" me all you like, but he hasn't been good in the last few years. Certainly in terms of results, and seemingly in terms of domestiquing (I haven't seen him work effectively for his leaders much at BMC, albeit these things can be hard to see).

I think any objective view of Roche over the past few years would suggest he is on the slide.

UAE currently only has 13 riders under contract for 2019.
THe biggest names are probably Ulissi and Rui Costa, both of them will probably have to accept a pay cut, for both of them a team like AG2R would be a good option.
Ganna to Sky seems to be a done deal, the other interesting guys are Polanc, Laengen, Ravasi, Troia, Atapuma and Swift.
Polanc or Ravasi would both be a nice addition to Bahrain (who, according to Nibali himself, should sign one more climbing domestique) and Laengen would be the kind of guy that would be perfect for the Skytrain.

Polanc as Domestique... Please NO!

I love seeing him in Giro & Vuelta breaks, as well as his usual Eneco break (this year he did a good GC instead).

Im not trolling anyone actually, just telling you how it is. Keep holding Tanel accountable for not helping Fuglsang sufficiently

Dude, you have some stick up your butt about Fuglsang, and want to make every debate about him.

I have not mentioned him once, I have merely pointed out, that Kangert is not the good Dom. he used to be.

Stop trolling please.

But its clearly you who are trolling. Especially since we all know why Kangert has fallen in your esteem.

Just because Bjarne Riis has been telling you that every single Astana rider is the worst, most illoyal cyclist imaginable throughout three weeks, it doesn't make it true.

Can we have these discussions about riders capabilities and in the rider's actual thread - Leave this thread for transfer news.

If a discussion about something develops in a wrong place, shouldn't we be allowed to participate?
