Tom van Asbroeck is still without a contract. I find it surprising considering his form in 2nd part of the season. He would be a very good domestique with that level. Top20 in both selective stages of Binck Bank Tour, 22th in selective Paris-Tours and climbing surprisingly well on some hilly Vuelta stages. And we're talking about a man who is quick enough to be at least a lead-out man.

According to yesterday's Het Nieuwsblad TvA agreed on a low-priced one year deal last year because Vaughters gave him his word that a multi-year contract at better conditions would follow. This never happened though, and in the end of September he got a mail from the team that his contract would not be prolonged at all.

So he probably didn't even look for a new team until he got that mail. And now it's a bit late of course...

Very classy from Vaughters...

I've read that but I'm surprised with his situation nonetheless.

Firstly, if I were Vaughters, I would rather keep him over riders like McLay or Scully.

Then it's a bit naive from Van Asbroeck not to talk to other teams if he wasn't given a proper contract offer by mid summer even if there was some kind of a (not recent) promise from Vaughters. One does not delay signing a contract with a rider he really wants to keep in his team without a good reason. I think I would feel alarmed.

MvdPoels Corendon team might still have some places vacant ...

Interested to see how this plays out. I have been extremely huge on Gaviria since 2015 (partly because Brian Holm also has hyped him), but I dont think he has done that well this year tbh. No clue how they are going to make both Kristoff and Gaviria happy, Kristoff probably has to ride Il Giro.

It was rumoured (Norwegian TV2) that Gaviria would bring some of his lead-out from Quickstep with him to UAE. Don't know if that's still on the cards.

He's in trouble if UAE don't strengthen the team. Marcato and an ageing Ferrari split between Kristoff and Gaviria are not exactly Richeze, Keisse and Lampaert.

I have always been extremely annoyed by Holm's hyping of him. He has said plenty of times that he is much better than Sagan at the same age, which is just the purest of nonsense. I don't particularly like Gaviria either, but it will be interesting to see him fend for himself. Because he obviously is a top 3 sprinter.

Well according to Instagram Richeze was at some Quickstep Book event today, together with the whole team. Evenepoel was there too, so maybe it was there 2019 squad assembled which would mean he is staying and working with Hodeg next year.
