Tanel Kangert will quit Astana.

Could be a nice signing for Sunweb. (Read dom for Dumoulin)

Kangert doesn't do much dom. work.

At this years TdF, I can remember him working for the team on 2 stages.

Yeah, and people who are observant of non-Danes will know him to have been an integral part of the Astana Grand Tour squad in their prime with Nibali and Aru.

Exactly. One of the really good mountain domestiques in the peloton. Pretty damn important in Nibali winning the Giro in 2016 on the last stage.

And why would he work for Fuglsang anyways? Fuglsang lost boatload of time on the first tough mountain stage.

Because he didn't work for Fuglsang?

I remember him working for Nibali in more than one occasion.

Did you guys miss that he confirmed last week with EF Education for next year? It was discussed a few pages back.

Rumours going around Tour presentation today is that G will be leaving Sky at the end of the season.

Expected arrivals are Pinot, Caruso and Amador.

Rumours of Izagirre brothers again, they tried to get them a couple of years ago.
Thomas --> extended contract
Pinot --> staying with Groupama
Caruso --> moving to Bahrain
Amador --> staying with Movistar
Izagirre brothers --> Astana

Where do these rumors come from? I know a couple of those where cited in the media as well but most I've only read on here. What made Pinot, Caruso and Amador expected arrivals, expected by whom?

Why would nationality enter into it?

Kangert used to be one of the best doms for the mountains, but the last 2 years, he has done fnck all.

This years TdF is the most recent example - you are not a dom, if you spend 19 out of 21 stages riding your own race.

He rode a half Giro in 2017 as the captain, more or less. Along with the Tour this year, those are the two GTs he has ridden since 2016. And as we both pointed out, there is absolutely no point in doing domestique work for a rider who loses +4 minutes on the first mountain stages.

Your argument is very poor.

In 2017 after the horrible accident where he hit a pole at high speed in the Bergamo stage he didn't race for the rest of the season, could be that he isn't the same as before, sometimes happens after a very bad crash.

According to Wielerflits, Dombrowski and Roche are going to Sunweb. They also made Marc Hirschi an offer.

Sound like decent additions to the team to support Dumoulin, especially Roche

Yes, let's say Nikias Arndt. I think that would make quite a strong team. :D :cool:

There were no team orders. Fuglsang was just too weak and Astana had no point to sacrifice everyone if your leader is not capable.

Btw, there was a pre-tour thread where some people claimed that Astana sends a very weak team and Fuglsang has no support. I did not agree, amongst other things because Fuglsang does not deserve better doms. In the end, Astana had fine in Tour, the team was strong, only Fuglsang did not deliver.

Sunweb is a much better development team than EF at least. Maybe they could do something with Dombrowski.

Then again, not many like to be in the constraints of Sunweb which is why a lot of riders seem to leave the team after 1/2 years

What constraints do Sunweb have ???

Surely they are not a constrained as SKY where every minute of the race is planned

Sunweb actually has a quite comparable 'scientific' approach to cycling as Sky have. Some Sunweb riders mentioned that their nutritional program is probably even more advanced than it is at Team Sky. Laurens Ten Dam mentioned in his podcast that, during the TDF, he is basically ordered to eat a certain amount of nuts at a certain time each evening. :lol:

Has Roche been useful this year, my feeling is he can just about fill the Tendam slot nowdays?

God you rub me the wrong way with your disgusting chauvinistic, red-white tinted glasses in every argument you enter. Yes, Kangert should have babysitted Fuglsang for a 12th place and yes, Kangert is a bad domestique for crashing out of the Giro (as GC-rider) and not riding any GT apart from that. Duh

Thank god Astana saved their sinking ship in Massif Central and allowed their whole team up the road on stage 14 and 15......
