Not 100 percent positive that it's official but it's been widely reported. I imagine that B-M did some physiological testing and also structured the contract in a way that heavily weights performance.

He probably deserves one final shot, maybe he'll go out with a few wins.

Oh, c'mon, the level of talent in this team is scary. With Pogacar, Philipsen, Ardila, McNulty and Bjerg they blow away any other team in terms of u-23 talents. If they can hang onto them for several years and don't screw their training and development, they might become the next dominant team in a couple of years.
And that's besides their sprinting team, which can do great if they manage to put everything together with Gaviria, Richeze and Kirstoff. Also in harder hilly classics, with Aru, Formolo, Ulissi, Conti, Henao and Costa they have a potentially superb team.

Potentially is the big word here. Lots of possible future winners and lots of former ones like Aru, Ulissi and Costa who are way off their best and riders like Gaviria who need a big year

More likely that Ellingworth pulled some strings when he signed. Agree that it's sure to be a performance based contract though.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned in here already, but Simon Špilak has ended his career. Too early if you ask me but a decision that has to be respected.

At his best he was one of the best riders for one week stage races in the World. He was especially good in extreme weather conditions (cold and wet). Generally regarded as Tour de Romandie and Tour de Suisse specialist. Those races suited him because they usually have the most climbing among one week stage races (with Dauphine).

He never gave it a serious go at a GT. He tried in a couple of Tours but because of the warm weather he wasn't even close to his best. I still don't understand why he never gave it a try at the Giro (he did but not in his prime years). I always thought Giro stages in bad weather could suit him. But he found his niche in one week races and he never deviated from his spring program.

I'll always remember his rides with Froome in Romandie when they were head and shoulders above the rest.

Thank you Simon. I'll miss your attacking style.
