So basically this whole announcement has been a letdown, But from the riders that haven't been confirmed yet they sound like a very competitive young team.

the brits theyve got (with the exception of russ) are very very prominsing all good young riders who considering some of them have been track biased have had decent road performances..

Freire (33) announced that he'll quit cycling next year, when he's out of contract.

Het Nieuwsblad from EL Mundo...

:(:(

Friere will always be one of my favorite riders. Just to get this straight, 2010 is his last year?

He will move, yes, that's official.

He isn't ready, though.

I agree. He ain't bad, but I can't see him competing against guys like farrar, hushovd etc.. he'd never beat cav :D

Bos is even saying that if rabo won't form a lead-out train for him he might consider moving.
Maybe he should get some results first.

And I'm guessing guys like Nuyens, Clement, Langeveld and Posthuma wouldn't be happy in that role. A train with van Emden, de Maar, Tankink and Leezer or something like that wouldn't be competitive enough.
They would also lose all guys who usually do the work before the cameras ggo on.

Pffft let him go. Rabobank moved away from sprints a long time ago, Friere practically does his own work (speaks volumes to his ability) . Rabo are best concentrating on the classics and stage races.

I like that they moved Kruijswijk to the senior sqaud (and probably Van Winden too). two riders witha bright future.

Well I wouldn't call steve cummings a promising young rider but stannard and kennaugh are riders that could be good.

haha, you know me... grammer and spelling ain't my friend :p :D

No worries. Just kidding with you. Although the fact you misspelled "grammar" was deliciously ironic :D

Just remember to pick on me next time I screw up a rider's name :p

So Dave Brailsford says he wants only spotless riders, and a lot of people want to believe he means it. A lot of people also believe that Discovery (and, to a lesser degree, Barloworld) were not exactly spotless.

Steve Cummings
Chris Froome

Wiggo

From Wiggins' twitter

"A huge anti-climax is heading the press's way, such a shame, for the sake of being just not stirring the ****, oh look the Vuelta's on!"

I assume he is referring to his potential move to sky, so it looks like that isn't going to be happening anytime soon.

Garmin is the better team right now anyway. They give him a better shot at a tour podium.

Does Wiggins have that high of an opinion of himself? He is not going to Sky and that is a "huge anti-climax"? Didn't he promise us a huge bang a couple of months ago, which turned out to be a wet squib?

Yes, because the british press are making a huge deal about Wiggins joining the patriotic revolution of the british Sky team, bla bla bla, *insert more nationalistic crap that makes me nauseous*

And it's not happening. Wiggins is having none of it. And good for him!

It was obviously a joke. You people love to criticise for no reason. Just as when Evans joked he'd kill the reporter with a huge smile on his face....everyone pretended it was serious, because it's easier to bash people.

After over 2 years as a pro, Intxausti finally shows somethihg, ANYTHING worthwhile. Finally. He was a huge prospect but he's been such a disappointment so far.

Why am I quoting this? Because Euskaltel signed him today

I think one of the things you have to remember about Brad is a) he is british so sarcasm runs very thickly through his blood, he is also b) well renowned for being one of the funniest guys in the pelaton...

much of what brad twitters (i interpret) as to be taken with a heavy dose of humour.. ;)

Hunter secures contact with a new team

As Team Barloworld nears its end, the futures of the three South Africans on the team look to have been secured with all having signed or poised to conclude deals with top squads. Robbie Hunter, who has captained Barloworld for the last three years, confirmed he had signed for the highly-regarded Garmin-Slipstream outfit, while John Lee Augustyn, the young climbing star, has been snapped up by the newly-formed Sky team, which will be sponsored by the British cable TV giant. Daryl Impey is believed to be considering a contract from Team Radioshack, the new squad being assembled by seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong.

TBF nothing has ever been said about Cummings or Froome. It is like saying Basson was a doper because he rode for Festina.
