It didn't look like a fluke though did it? He proved he can climb reasonably well in more than one race - plus there was no place for him to hide on Ventoux and he did well.
I don't think he'll finish top 4 at the 2010 Tour, but should crack the top 10 - and for me that will be enough to suggest 2009 was no fluke.

However, I'll believe this transfer saga is over when I see him wearing a Sky jersey!

Tejay's explanation for signing with Columbia was pretty clear. He was one of 20 talented riders for the Rabobank development team and there were limited spots available on the Pro team.

His options were better with Columbia. It is part of the development program for young cyclists. One bird in hand is better than two birds in the bush.

According to L'equipe, Wiggins to Sky will be confirmed this afternoon

He lives round the corner from me in Lancashire, UK.

See him out riding a lot.

Guess what bike he was out on Friday afternoon?

Red/Black Pinarello.

Guess what bikes Team Sky are riding next year...?

Pinarello.

Make what you will from that.

:D

Xacobeo claim to have signed a portuguese sprinter. Probably Manuel Cardoso. Although he's anything but a pure sprinter (yes, he's fast, but he can outclimb basically any sprinter around), so it may not be him.

Manuel Cardoso has signed for Fotoon-servetto, according to feltet.dk

Mirko Selvaggi joins Astana. Started (and finished AFAIK) all 6 Classics in April in 2008, and that is what he is signed for.

Cyclingnews just reported Sinkewitz is looking for a new team, any rumor?

He will be lucky to get a decent ride again. What with breaking omerta and all that  (the result of him breaking omerta, not because he did it, which I think was a good thing he did)

Two more years for Nico Eeckhout at Sean Kelly Team

I love the Eeckhouts and Cuestas of the peloton, who just keep on going, and - in the case of Eeckhout - still deliver in the races. They're tough as nails (or just plain terrified of what to do when they hang up their bikes, but I prefer the former reason).

I'm surprised Eechout was not signed by Retirement Shack. Or maybe he is older then Armstrong. You can Andrea Noè to your list as well, he will be 41 next year. He turned pro when Taylor Phinney was 2 and a half years old.

I'll also add my praise for these hard old dudes. How old was Duclos-Lasalle when he retired? 108?

Now there's a comeback I'd like to see.

Does that mean that Zubeldia got himself out of the Astana contract? Or have I missed the story?

I had the same reaction. I thought that Contador insisted that Zubeldia stay with Astana so that he would have a domestique for the mountains. I know that he wanted to switch to the Shack, but I never saw a story that said Zubeldia was actually allowed to do it.

It wouldn't be the first time we've seen a Shack roster in the media with names on it of people who still officially belong to Astana.

Officially? I guess that would mean it is known he is still part of Astana for 2010?

If so you are officially way ahead of the curve.

Interesting that bertie signed a new contract for this year yes? So, it would lead most to believe that Haimar would need to do so as well? Or am I assuming too much?

In either case it would not surprise me that Haimar will be riding for the Shack this year. Just like the rest of the TDF squad. Except one of course.

well im assuming thats the official roster theyve sent to the UCI... dunno what happened with zubeldia, on the 19th he still "wanted to leave" astana, so clearly something has happened in the last three days..
