You can Andrea Noè to your list as well, he will be 41 next year. He turned pro when Taylor Phinney was 2 and a half years old.
Darn, I forgot about Andrea Noè. He's as old as they get.

It's a pity Stéphane Goubert retired, as he was actually getting better and better the last couple of years.

Two more years for Nico Eeckhout at Sean Kelly Team

I love the Eeckhouts and Cuestas of the peloton, who just keep on going, and - in the case of Eeckhout - still deliver in the races. They're tough as nails (or just plain terrified of what to do when they hang up their bikes, but I prefer the former reason).

I'm with you there - it's great to see guys still enjoying it and doing well when most would have been retired for 5 years!

It's late and I'm drunk and I haven't checked in detail but it seems to be the same one that CyclingNews reporting.

Other than the mention of Zubeldia, which has already been commented on, the thing that struck me was the fact that earlier in the day AG2R's roster was reported, in standard CN format with the age of each rider reported, yet the Retirement Shack roster has no mention of rider's ages.

Oh well. It seems that the Shack are going to concentrate on just two races, win one whilst everyone else is fighting for the Giro and struggle to get on the podium because "cheese eating surrender monkeys" are conspiring against them in July.

Same here, I thought he still had a year contract with Skil.
Probably he bought-out (sorry for mispelling) his contract?

I wonder if there is a clause in Beppu's contract for him to leave if a Pro Tour team came in. I mean Latvian Aleksejs Saramotins was under contract with Team Designa Køkken for next season, but if a pT team came in, he was allowed to leave. Either that or The Hog has made Skil a finincial offer too good to refuse (and promising to put in a good word to ASO for next year). I don't think Skil would let Beppu go too easily since he was worth a lot of exposure to the team in Japan during the Tour de France. Same with Arashiro and BBox Bouygues Telecom.

Funny, but Beppu is listed on the Skil website for the 2010 team...something must give here? Is he officially on Shack???

ALMATY, Kazakhstan (AP) — The future of Tour de France champion Alberto Contador's Astana team is again in doubt after cycling's ruling body made new demands for financial guarantees.

Kazakh Cycling Federation deputy president Nikolai Proskurin said Tuesday that the International Cycling Union is demanding a bank guarantee of Astana's annual budget before it will renew its ProTour license.

Proskurin says the demand is unreasonable and that he is unsure whether Astana can meet Wednesday's deadline.

The team's inclusion in competition next season had appeared certain last week, when the oil-rich Kazakhstan government pledged $22 million in financial support for next season

Thanks for the update Hog. Good post.

seems the astana fiasco drags on and on

"Bruyneel told us that he would do everything possible to ensure that they withdrew our license," Proskurin said.

I wonder if all the whingers, who were bemoaning the fact that the French were singling out Astana for supposed extra doping controls, will be venting any anger and frustration at the UCI's clear financial victimisation of Astana?

McQuaid's mobsters are making up new, unrealistic rules, just for this one team, as they go along.
4 million already banked for forthcoming wages, but it's not good enough?
Now they want 22 million up front?
Come on. If they pulled that one for all the PT teams, they'd be lucky to end up with 2 squads.

The UCI's protection racket, at work.

According to Biciclismo, Proskurin thinks that the UCI demands are reasonable, and may be accomplished tomorrow.

So who's wrong?

Were there other ProTour teams, besides Astana, that didn't meet their payrolls in a timely fashion this year? From recent published reports, Astana had payroll issues as recently as the last few weeks. Hard to imagine that a quality organization would do that when they know they're under severe scrutiny by the UCI.

That maybe so, but grandstanding comments by Proskurin don't help either.

I always thought Beppu had re-signed with Skil. I guess Fuyu Li gets in as a token.

Li is just so good. Especially in time trials. Back in the Eindhoven TTT in 2007 the other 7 Discovery guys were ordered to take pulls while Li was told to stay at the back on their wheels.

He lasted less than 5 kms before being dropped.

And he has potential, too. He's 31, so his career has barely begun.

This signing clearly has nothing to do with the sponsors.
