The strong rider Alexandre Kolobnev, recently silver medal at World Championship 2009 in Mendrisio (CH) signed a two years contract with the Andrei Tchmil Team. Kolobnev will be another strong cyclist for the one-day race classic.
The agree was reach thanks the Saxo Bank Team collaboration in the person of his chief Bjarne Riis, because the Russian rider had an another year contract with the Swedish team.
Andrei Tchmil: «I think that Kolobnev will be a good rider for our Team. We don’t discover his natural power. He’s a strong climber for the one-day race classic. He already won two times the silver medal at the world championship. I’m sure that he will do well with Katusha Team».

He rode for Festina-Lotus (who he turned pro for in 1999) before moving to Crédit Agricole, Marlux, Chocolat Jacques, Agritubel, Caisse d'Epargne and finally Cofidis. Aside from winning the 2006 French NRR, he won Paris-Bourges, GP Cholet, Paris-Troyes and stage wins in the Circuit de la Sarthe, Etoile de Bessèges and Paris-Corrèze. He finished seventh in Paris-Roubaix in 2005. So he had a solid career.
