has had a bad knee injury that put his career in jeopardy. Won a mtb bike race on his comeback about june this year, in Switzerland. Is based in Aigle at the UCI le Monde du Cyclisme.

Had a decent Saguenay Coupe de Nations (in Quebec?).

Put quite a few Protour riders from French teams to the sword in Tour de Cote d'Ivoire before they had really done their base, or got on their programs.

Gotta be a smokey for the World tt champs. Last year's champ Malori, plus Gretsch and Kittel will be favourites I assume, if the course is not too bumpy. If too bumpy, rule our Marcel Kittel.

Teklehaimenot is pretty tall and wiry, think he is about 188 and 73.

Was supposed to be a stagiare on Amore & Vita McDonalds last year. Think the knee injury compromised that.

If Kritskiy's recovered from yesterday's fall, he's my main favorite. Sicard might be up to something too. Malori would be my main pick to try and beat Kritsky in the TT.

For those not aware, yesterday Kritsky started the TT at the Tour de l'Avenir almost 2 minutes behind Sicard on GC. Sicard won the stage, but had Kritsky not crashed heavily and abandoned, he might've won the GC, despite the 2 minute difference, despite the TT only being 30-odd kms and despite Sicard being a very good TTer (and Kritsky would win the stage, no question). Kritsky was destroying the intermediate splits, beating Sicard by quite a lot of time.

Will be interesting to see Sicard vs. Kritsky in both the TT and the RR. Can' wait :)

You're right in that. He doesn't have the past pedigree. However, you only have to see his time to see he did a great ride. He beat some very good TTers by quite a bit. He even beat van Garderen and especially Gretsch

Sicard is a former track rider (on the pursuit if I remember it right), sort of little Wiggins ;) Has been French track champion in his category numerous times.

And he also rode top - 5 in the Isard time trial if I remember it right.

l'Isard was a 9km prologue.

Sicard had done jack $hit before. He won a madison or points in the jnrs, but was not winning the IP.

Wiggins was a World champ as a 17yo in Columbia. So, he is not Wiggins.

Atleast that is what I remember when checking this guy, as I did not know of him, and I was right, pretty anonymous palmares.

Gretsch has also not been a great tt in tours, except Thuringen last year, usually he is making up the numbers in tours.

The u23 tt will be won by a chrono rider, who is not suited to the rr. The riders who can go ok in the rr, will be hedging, with their chrono legs and their rr chance. The guys who cannot handle the parcours, willl be investing more in the rr. See for example, Malori, he may change his focus to the rr. For that reason, Kittell has to be a good bet, I do not think he can handle the parcours in the rr, so will be putting his time into the tt.

To be honest I'm pretty sure Malori can't handle the road race parcours. But I'm still betting on Kritsky for the TT, provided he's healthy.

Malori has been winning alot in Italy this year. You dont win those Italian u23 or elite one-day races in Lombardia, if you cannot go uphill fast in a classic style selection. He can handle it now. Perhaps not last year.

It's not that I'm doubting his climbing skills. I'm doubting his acceleration to be able to get rid of the others.

What can I say?

I'll sidestep the insults (why the venom?) and just say that when a DS takes than many riders from his old team, that's quite a chunk. And as you know, a few more are likely to sign with Radio Shack. So while your math is correct, I think you missed the bigger symbolic point. If that makes me a ridiculous idot, then I'm fine with that.

isso, Velonews reported that Kritsky broke a leg in the TT crash...if that's true i doubt that he will be ready for the worlds...it's a shame, he probably would've done a fantastic ride

No, actually.

I started a new blog six months ago and write almost every day. As you might guess, it's hard for people to find any blog in the ocean of content produced every day. So a certain amount of promotion is required and I've had a generally good response, with picked-up links in cycling stories in Rueters, the Washington Post, France Daily and the San francisco Examiner. I think it's a good blog, think it covers a small part of the cycling world in a different way, and hope, perhaps in a mis-guided way, that people might enjoy the fresh viewpoint. My intention is not to annoy or insult. It's just a link and you can click or not. That's up to readers. I would think that anyone with a love of cycling is interested in a new voice. I don't run ads, I don't make any money so to me the promotion is harmless.

Is Radioshack going to sign Sebastian Joly? He also suffered the same fate as Lance, but the only difference was that Joly detected it early, unlike Lance who left it right to the last minute.

According to Joly, that once he got sick, Lance e-mailed him offering his best wishes, advice, and any help he could offer, and Joly then wrote back (in English because he CBF typing in French!) with his appreciation.

Saxo's dire financial trouble continues. No money to renew Arvesen, Goss or Kroon's contracts. Problems getting to an agreement with Ljungqvist because they can't offer much. Offering Bochmann a renewal despite publicly admitting to not being happy with his performance, just because they need cheap riders to fill numbers.

And now signing Cooke who isn't Saxo quality and the wrong side of 30.

Not going well for them at all.

Also, the fact that it's a 1 year contract (which Saxo never do, not even for neo-pros) is very telling

EDIT: You gotta wonder what's gonna happen at the end of next season when the Schlecks' contracts end and they're due massive pay rises (Andy is still on the same contract he signed when his only two results of any note were stage wins at the Sachsen-Tour)
