1. "Telling the truth" has little to do with any court case Lance has ever been involved in (let alone his life in general).

2. Waiting on the fat lady. (As far as I can see, she still hasn't even gotten the invitation.)

that was then..............this is now

tyler's book is published there will be no legal action from lance

he has already been smacked down in court

he will not want to attract more attention

It is not that. Tyler will no longer be alone in the court room with Lance.

Once you stand up to a bully, he/she loses all their power over you.

That is facile. Any such case - as vetted by a publisher's legal dept prior to publication - would depend on whether the statements are factual or not. If the statements are factual, there would be little merit in a defamation case.

The point was it is now easier for Tyler Hamilton to demonstrate his claims are factual. Saying I saw Lance dope on a bus full of teammates, and then being in the court room alone with Lance, has a much different bearing on the legal finding of veracity than if you also have 5 other teammates in the court room with you willing to support your claim.

Publishers do check for the veracity of claims made in publications. This has not stopped Lance or others from suing in the past.

Facile it is not.

The decision to publish his book was made well prior to the USADA investigation. The USADA investigation has no bearing on this decision except to move up the publication date.

The "decision to publish" was made after the USADA investigations had been underway for some time. Tyler would have been well aware of this investigation and some of its details.

The decision on the final content of the book may not have been made until after the decision of the USADA to ban Armstrong. Indeed, that is how it appears.

I think I saw someone write the book is less than 300 pages? We are off this week because of the DNC and our proximity to downtown, so I should get a chance to read it. It sounds like a real page turner. It may be one of those read->sleep->read->sleep->read couple of days for me.

You keep saying that. What, in your opinion, is the endgame?

Since this is all clearly a "witchhunt" the endgame has to be a burning at the stake.

In this case it will be the Lance Armstrong legend that goes up in flames.

How many of them could he have been behind? Tyler? Mayo? Heras? Landis?

Operation Puerto? Lance took down a lot that year, just out of spite, and something to do with all his time off.

#1 Sports book on Amazon.....and it isn't even out yet

It must be popular given the rip off prices. Think of a number... er... 4... right that's what we'll multiply the US cover price by. May explain why the largest online bookstore here isn't even offering it for presale.

To add to that previous comment: I so want to read this book it's painful, but out of principle, i.e. this is price fixing, I refuse to buy it.

damn, guys, probably Lance even wasn't the strongest if asked UCI to deal with a humble anti timetrialist Mayo?

bookdepository.com has it for about $18 US shipped anywhere...

Great, thanks, I'll check it out.

Just a bit fed up that the publishing industry uses a book revealing corruption in such a corrupt manner... hey ho, meanwhile back in the real world...

You keep saying that. What, in your opinion, is the endgame?

1. The endgame is when the USADA has completed the work outlined in the charging letter against all six persons charged.

2. When the sanctions against each of those six persons are recognized internationally by all IOC sporting organizations. (I would also like to see that no US or other organizer would permit Lance, the doctors, or the sports director to be involved in any way in any competition - though this is something each organization outside the IOC may still decide for itself.)

3. This is outside the USADA case, but I feel strongly about it: Not only Bruyneel and the doctors need to be sidelined from sport (the doctors should also lose their medical licenses). Lance Armstrong should never be allowed any contact with the youth in sport. He should not be allowed within 100 yards of a sporting facility that is used by the youth. He is no different than any other two-bit junkie or drug pusher - except he is worse. He promoted a hero culture around it.

4. This has little to do with the sport, but this is the most important in my mind. The Lance Armstrong Foundation needs to be shut down and whatever funds remaining need to be redirected toward genuine cancer fighting organizations. For the sake of transparency and confidence, the funds should not go to any organization that worked with the Lance Armstrong Foundation or received funding from it.

1+2+3+4 = Game over.

Endgame:

- LA publicly admits, albeit with caveats ("waste of taxpayer money," "8 year SOL"), excuses ("everyone else was doing it"), and justifications ("I did it for the cancer victims"), that he doped.

- Pat is out of the UCI and there is a complete overhaul of the organization.

Looking forward to downloading the e-book to my tablet and enjoying the read!

I just pre-ordered it for my Kindle. $13.99 is not bad for a Kindle book. It's worth it to me to be able to read it as soon as it comes out.

I'm still going to get it from the library (and I do eagerly want to read it, and I do believe he is telling the truth). You can slice it and dice it all you want, but this is still Tyler profiting from his doping.

Fair enough. And I agree we should not have sympathy for doping. But not all dopers are Lance Armstrong.

I am glad Tyler has had the courage to tell his story. It is something that needs to be out there in the public. The 60 Minute interview didn't do his story justice.

If I had to choose between dropping a 20 dollar bill for Tyler's book or giving 20 dollars to the LAF, I wouldn't hesitate to go for the book.
