He picked up silver at LA in '84 behind Coe for the1500. He might yet win gold as they've still got the p1ss in cold storage somewhere. By all accounts the games were a farce.

Cram was World Champion in 1983 and his world best in 1985 would have been a best in many years in the 21st century.

Yea, that one stood out way worse than Makhloufi. Makhloufi got made into the punching bag though, not sure why him over some of the others. Gatlin got a pretty negative treatment, but Blake didn't.

noone wanted to spoil the Bolt-Jamaica love-in

Wasn't there a WR in the 800 by a Kenyan? He was worse than Froome on Ventoux.

OK, there are two athletes running at the moment who are pretty much perfectly adapted, physically, to their event. Bolt (aside from his back) and Rudisha. Rudisha is probbaly the least suspicious athlet competing at the moment. He's just built for that event....in a different way from Coe, for sure, but he has perfect form, balance, alignment, stride, power....everything.

He's the 800m runner you are talking about. Go and learn about him, his genes, his background, the way he trains etc. Then come back on here.

Jeez, such bollox.

Yes, Cram was a 1500m runner. I used to run against him. He was a physiological freak....no drugs involved. None needed, quite frankly.

He's as outspoken as they come about dopers in athletics...including Brits.

He used to boast of his junk food diet which I guess made him more normal than most. Coe was the dodgy one in my view.

Perhaps both men could contribute a 100 grand each to the IOC in the fight against drugs.:D

Maybe its because Makhloufi won the 1500 and it being the event Cram used to do maybe he knows more about what is and isnt suspicious?

back to the matter at hand Tyson Gay tests positive

there is still hope for gay. antiretrovirals do well delaying the onset of full blown aids and suppressing hiv. greg louganis and magic johnson. there are breakthroughs in the lab.

http://www.unaids.org/en/resources/presscentre/featurestories/2013/june/20130605symposiumcaprisa/

so i am pretty bullish on gays prospects

This could get confusing if Tyson plays the 'gay' card a la Louganis. I suggest we remain off piste.

The iaaf stats site has the all time lists for many events (just change year to all time). Coe is still the third fastest man in the 800metres ever.

It was a wave of talent who had excellent training methods. There's plenty to be said about the way British middle distance running went into decline.
I'll sum it up for you....they stopped running as quickly in training.

Radcliffe was fastest by minutes, and seemed suited enough for the event. BIt much drama surrounding her though.
Was she the first female runner to ever dope, by years? Or the only one to ever bother doing it properly? Why no other monster performances from native Brits? Farrah even left the UK to drop a minute/10km under Salazar's thyroid TUE training schemes.
