Of course, it is the most natural and fair form of cycling. I think you are still relatively young. In the heyday of cycling, longer time trials, sometimes more than one in a Tour, were the most natural thing in the world. Unfortunately, too much emphasis is now placed on many mountain stages. With too many climbs in too long stages. Which does not benefit the spectacle.
Because subtoppers and toppers never dare to attack from far under those circumstances. I am an absolute proponent of sufficient time trial kilometers in a large stage race (80 km in total) and of a somewhat longer time trial (20 to 40 km) in a small stage race. Alternating with rather shorter rides in the mid-mountains and one or two in the high mountains. And not more than a few sprintstages (not more than three or four).

But yet you include Dumoulin and Bardet in your list who each managed to achieve one Top-10 GT result in the last three years. Makes sense.

I liked it a lot. Just because I saw some of the best time-trialers going head to head. But I believe 32 KM was too much for that race. Too small for that distance. On the other hand I believe that 9 km is simply too little for a WT TT. I would eliminate it if it was my choice. But I am starting to see organizers to do weird things for the spectacle. Like creating little differences to motivate competition. We'll see what happens.

It makes sense because both have found new energy and motivation after some "off" years. We know they both have the quality to be genuine contenders. Quintana in 2019 on the other hand, was in a rut and was not the most motivated or in his best form for quite some time. Had Dumoulin not declared he wanted to go full out this year after his sabatical, i would not have included him in the list.

World Tour cycling in 2022 is dominated by the guys with the chubby, pale legs.

Pogi is the best stage racer, best climber, one of the best time trialists, one of the best puncheurs, and has these butter-soft, big, chubby, pale legs.

Cav still seems to be the best sprinter (or one of the best), and also has these chubby, rather pale legs.

Both‘s bodies look like the bodies of fit amateurs, but they are the best of the best… :)

Nothing will happen, the little are the gaps the more everyone tries to save his spot and then waits to sprint for the bonus seconds. And this race has even a crap route with only two unipuertos, one of which is already likely to end in an uphill sprint regardless.

But why ? Which are your arguments ? Can we also limit the mountain stages to one mountain stage ? Or limit it to just one climb ? Not to influence or falsify the result. You forget that the number of time trials and the length of the time trials have already been reduced enormously in recent years. Why not doing the same with mountain stages or sprint stages ? Besides time trials, hilly rides are the most natural form of cycling. Where the best come forward anyway. Now it's the case that if you're not a climber you can't win a grand tour anymore. And still very difficult to win a small round.
