It can always be the difference between 5th and 6th, or 7th and 8th. For these guys that matters. It probably won't, but you never know and when you can just take them, why now. Ofc they are not in contention to win the whole thing.

Van Eetvelt hasn't been able to show anythinig for almost a year (Catalunya last season) tho, and he has never shown a really good performance at pro level on a 45min climb like they are getting tomorrow. Podium should be out of his reach with Remco, Del Toro and Tiberi here. 5th would already be really good, I think 7th or something like that is more realistic, given he'll lose time in the TT to most.

I don't know what the form is of most riders since it's so early in the season. Podium is imo out of the question for LVE if UAE controls the mountains. I can see Evenepoel, Del Toro, Tiberi already do better. Then we have to see in what form the likes of Gee, Storer, Gall or Van Wilder are in.

Last year's route was much flatter.

But Pogacar launched his sprint too early; otherwise, he would have overtaken several riders who passed him. It wasn't just Milan. Harold Tejada or Van Eetvelt for example.
