emergency TUEs are always granted for exacerbations of asthma:

he is asthmatic, he had a respiratory infection

a respiratory infection in asthmatics can lead to an acute exacerbation of asthma

and acute exacerbations of asthma are no joke, they can send you straight to accident and emergency if badly treated or not treated at all

therefore, athletes with an acute exacerbation of asthma have the right to an emergency TUE, in fact they even have the right to a retroactive TUE if necessary. this is clearly stated in the WADA paperwork

http://www.wada-ama.org/Documents/Science_Medicine/Medical_info_to_support_TUECs/WADA-Medical-info-Asthma-5.0-EN.pdf

so i'm surprised they are making such a fuss about it

... unless this is to do with his status as an asthmatic either not being registered or not having been renewed, which is another story altogether
I don't see anywhere in that document any suggestion that the usual procedures for the TUE don't have to be followed once it is submitted.

Whether or not Froome has done anything wrong, it seems clear that Zorzoli has, and who is he sticking his neck out for if that's the case?

It was an illegal TUE prescribed by the UCI.

Those are not facts?

You sure you're not Richie Porte?

Well, no, Hog. They aren't the facts.

First of all, the UCI don't prescribe anything, doctors do.

Secondly, if there is a valid TUE, sought in advance, it's not illegal.

You know, guys, in your giddy frenzy over this, which will come to nothing, you're missing the actual story which might mean something. But then, that's typical.

Hmmm.

Yes spiked efforts!

Chris Froome (Team Sky) secured overall victory at the Tour de Romandie with a dominant performance in the final stage time trial around Neuchatel. The Briton started the 18.5km hilly time trial one second behind Simon Spilak (Katusha) but blasted up the mid-stage climb in his tucked aero time trial position and then dived to the finish to win the stage and take overall victory.

Froome set a time of 24:50 to beat world time trial champion Tony Martin (Omega Pharma-QuickStep)

These doesn't look good at all, seems like Sky have good protection.Poor Andreea Raducan was stripped by gold medal when she tested positive for a banned substance contained in a cold medicine at Sydney 2000 Olympics.

Is there any evidence that Sky was complicit in the fast tracking?

What you mean by requesting the TUE in the first place? and not ahead of time?
So it is illegal to request a TUE?
The cycling news article suggests that the review was not conducted correctly. Does the the news story suggest they did something wrong then?

The original story in the French press cited the link between Cookson, the UCI and Sky.

So yes there's a problem. Sorry.

It asks the question but it does not say they are complicit (Someone with better French might be able to correct me?)

That's why some of them chose bikes.

Maybe you should go back and read all the crap Brailsford has spouted about Sky doing things the right way and not just being seen to be doing it the right way. All the crap about TUEs and transparency.........

While Hog may not be the most accurate messenger, shooting him is just plain stupid.

I'm sorry, "don't shoot the messenger" doesn't cover posting nonsense.
