During the XCC I had the feeling Neff tried to help Richards by blocking Keller and Rissveds. It looked really strange atleast and she blowed up in the last lap. I haven’t noticed team tactics in MTB before and was just wondering. Does team tactics usually exist and is it accepted like in Road Cycling?

the "illegal" sponsors will happily pay for that and even accounted for that in advance imho... not uncommon in other sports too

Yes, it's happened recently in the WRC; I recall the Hyundai drivers didn't wear the Pirelli cap on the podium, but their own. The regs insist on wearing the tyre supplier's hat on the podium.......

It happened in the men's XCO race as well; Specialized slowed the pace down at the front to allow Blevins to come back.
I think it's going to become a tactic used more often by the stronger, bigger teams......

Gwendalyn Gibson broke her collar bone, and has now had surgery.....obviously out for a while - and may affect her attempts at Olympic qualification; as Batten & Blunk look nailed on for the US.

UCI collecting for their end of year party.
Dirt racers need all of the sponsors ($) they can get so the UCI fining racers for thanking their sponsors is completely stupid IMO. I don't care if this happens in other sports. If we are going to compare to other sports, the UCI should be fined for not bringing in the same kind of money as other sports.

Sounds like UCI reps are not too happy around certain features of this weekends course, changes being made to make it safer. I believe it is considered a tough one.
Interestingly there have been comments that the limited single track and somewhat easier course last weekend made for better closer racing.

A World Cup calendar should be made up of a variety of courses;whether hilly, ultra technical, flatter power courses, etc
They can't all be the same, otherwise you're not testing different elements.

Last week produced exciting close racing, this week may provide a tougher technical challenge - and a more spread out field. That mix is what the sport is about......

At the moment, you'd take Batten & Blunk........(though Courtney may get a spot).
It will be interesting to see how the selection plays out. They would be the most reasonable choices to make. I don't think KC can rely on being a pinch hitter given the past 2-3 years.

Did Aldridge have two falls? Bad tire choice?

Amos is really on fire at the moment - can he keep it up? Sofie Pedersen was similarly impressive in the U23s last season, and then fell apart in the latter part of the season.
And how long before Lidl-Trek come calling? Or has he no interest in road racing?

Bohm has copied Amos with a 'double-double' - she's made a massive step up from last year. Was checking her results from last season, and there's nothing outstanding.

So both Victor & Haley lead the Overall XCO; Specialized looking good at the moment. Since last year's Worlds, Victor has been in great form, and has racked up great results. At the moment, he looks like an Olympic medallist.....
