She's entered for the Elite race for Nove Mesto, which I don't quite understand; her results in U23 don't warrant moving up to Elite, unless it's a rule - whereas Burquier, Pedersen are entered in U23.....
Isn't there a rule that if you ride CX with the elites that you also have to do that in the other disciplines? Or is it just that if you go to the elites you can't go back for championships in the U23.

Rooting for Puck this afternoon. As for Van Empel, she was always in the top 7 or so in U23 but minutes behind. Not the most technical gifted rider, started late. But she got a lot of power and maybe with a course that's for her you never know she can get a good result. She will get better every year and it helps for CX I would think.

I'm not sure; Alvarado won the CX Worlds in 2020, but then did the delayed World Cups, and MTB Worlds as an U23, and got a bronze.
Both Pieterse & Burquier are riding in the Elites, but can ride as U23 in Euro/Worlds...like Stigger did for the last few seasons. However, both Mitterwallner, and Van Empel are riding as full on Elites. There is a form on the UCI website showing those U23 riders in Elite category.

In other news, neither XCC World Champion Sam Gaze, or Pidcock will ride tonights XCC; both ranked outside the Top 40; however, Milan Vader, who has missed nearly 2 seasons, is allowed under his old #35 ranking due to injury.

Richards went to early with her fast pace.
Ferrand-Prévot was a bit blocked before the last corner.
Stigger the fastest in the end, good win for her.

Pieterse in the 2nd group, first start row so not bad. Expect a harder race for her on Sunday, same place would be exceptional.
Also her recon from this morning is on Youtube already. Always fun to see.

Maybe he could win even more if he saved his matches for the last lap...like Pidcock. Instead of a 1000 watt sprint maybe he'd have enough in the tank for a 1200 watt sprint.

He's one of quite a few MTB riders who have no tactical sense at all; massive amounts of power, but wastes it pretending he's Tim Derclerq, dragging everybody along. Evie is another who tends to do too much on the front in Short Track.

Albert Philipsen is a special, special talent. Goes to CX, finishes 8th in his first major cross in the World Championships. Goes to the road and finishes just about top 10 in every stage in the biggest stage race of the junior calendar. Now, back on the mountain bike, where his roots are, and demolishes everyone in his first World Cup.

He certainly is. Reminds me of Jan Christen; massive talent in all disciplines - though he seems to be going down the Road route. Whilst Albert is on a MTB team, Canyon CCLTV, any success will soon have the road teams sniffing around......

Maybe.
I preferred to lead short tracks too so that I could race the track on my terms. I tried to get a gap early so that no one else could benefit from my work though. World Cup tracks are much wider than any track I raced so that obviously makes a difference.
