Yeah, Cooper does have talent, but he seems to get injuries/illness every season - misses races and has poor results. There comes a time when you have to draw a line - thank you and good luck elsewhere.
Similar for Neff I suppose; are her issues going to be long term, or is it sorted? From Trek's perspective, it's a gamble another team can take - especially if they're counting their pennies with this clearout.

It's possible they'll also rely on Lidl-Trek riders for results as well.....I Holmgren in the Elite XC, and possibly Philipsen in the U23s.
Sadly I don't see Jolanda's issues to magically disappear. Her immune system is compromised since that spleen perma-damage from that crash few years ago so she's very prone to illness and infections (lungs last season). She might get a good results here and there but unfortunately I don's see her getting to be a consistent podium contender anymore. :(

From instagram; Simone Avondetto and Wilier extend for 4 more years, and Trek XC will soon be unveiling a new kit.

Just the five riders this season. Will likely be joined by Holmgrens, and Phillipsen in Lidl-Trek colours.

More news - and following the departure of XCO World champion, Alan Hatherly, Cannondale FR, have announced their two other World champions are departing. However Charlie has renewed, and another 4 riders are joining......

To lose 3 current World champions in one swoop is a bit worrying; one is unfortunate, but three????

All big moves, yet not a peep from this website.........

Jolanda to Cannondale apparently...

Yeah, that was actually mentioned a while ago.......
Loana rumoured to BMC
Jenny Rissveds to Canyon

From earlier rumours, Mona was interested in racing Marathon, and not XCO; not sure how that is going to work out.

there will be no UCI Marathon world cup in 2025, so I don't know.
what keeps baffling me is that there are around 73 ppl around the world in this month of December caring about XCO transfers, and they could fcking let us know where they signed, instead of waiting for Jan 1st. is not that their team choice would sway the fans' purchases in the next 2 weeks. it's so dumb and stupid and makes me mad mad mad. what's this secrecy in a niche sport that doesn't even have 10% of interest in the mtb forums where all the news and posts and DH and enduro related
but no eh! god forbid if Andreassen or Mona or Fini showed a picture of their new bikes. dear me what a train wreck of marketing promotion this spot is. shameful

I don't understand the secrecy, it really baffles me. And a contrast to the Road where transfers can be announced from 1st August. I can understand not showing new bikes/ kits until 1st Jan as that's when contracts start - and even motorsport teams often stipulate this; we've often seen drivers testing new cars in plain overalls, in an unsponsored car before 1st Jan. Saying that, it's becoming more common to see teams allow drivers to swap before the new year.

But as I keep saying, the sport isn't doing enough from a marketing/ promotion point of view. Only 6-8 World Cups, and other races which get very little attention. And an almost hibernation in the off-season.

And is it any wonder when the cycle industry is making cutbacks, the Factory MTB teams suffer - all the while road teams spend, spend and spend even more, as they have outside sponsors.....
Look at the Trek XC team jersey sponsors; Sram, Rockshox, Santini & Pirelli

Courtney leaves Scott-Sram; apart from her first year there in 2019, when she won the World Cup Overall, it's been a little disappointing for her. That level of form hasn't been seen. Strong rumours her new team will be Allied.
Then I guess she'll be their hook-in face for gravel as their main segment along with their BC40 for XCO. Gravel is big in the US so she will definitely bump the sales. I wonder how it'll be in XCO WC as teams must have at least 3 riders... top15 is out of the question here so I guess season long wild card? They've build the XCO machine so I guess her still popular name in XCO must be their ticket to the XCO WC.

Honestly, I don't know. Couldn't bring myself to dig too deep into the new rules... UCI made me to not care anymore with all those weird changes. I'm fine to wait how it'll work out when the actual racing starts next year.

I did read them when they came out, but they're a little complicated.
I wonder if we'll see more riders in National jerseys riding for their federations - as budgets have been cut, and some riders won't get a place on teams.

Another team pulls the plug; Union from Downhill........and on last week's GMBN Show, Ric reckoned there were more to pull the plug.

It's not working, is it? Two years is normally too soon to make such a conclusion, but the evidence is right in front of us.
Too many changes, in such a short space of time has been a bit of a disaster. And the industry downturn can't help - especially when MTB has very few big money outside sponsors.

And yet, road racing continues to spend, and be in a relatively healthy place.
