No cause Astana wouldn't be promoting. Whole graph lost relevance with Astana being back in the top 18, they'll be in 17th in a few days and in 17th in a month.

The battle is between other teams. PicNic, Cofidis and Intermarché. PicNic has a better team, Intermarché is super dependent on one guy but still has a significant advantage and Cofidis... well they are just pretty bad. It's not looking good for them. Definitely when they have arrogant leaders like Buchmann who think they can do anything remotely relevant in Dauphiné and feel to big for farming points in races like the Mercan Tour

I dont want to do Danielzu's job but.... too curious for the Giro points tommorrow. Astana was not good these last days. Poole got 35 points in the stage of the Giro. Gate got 20 in France.

GC standings Giro:

Picnic: 225 points
Poole 11 = 155
Bardet 26 = 30
Leemreize 43 (+8) = 20
Hamilton 44 (+13) = 20

Astana: 475 (if Masnada doenst count: 455)
Ulissi 21 = 50
Fortunato 24 (+2) = 50
Scaroni 40 = 20
Masnada 41 = 20
Poels 51 = 15
Conci 56 = 10
KOM: Fortunato 1, Scaroni 2 = 310

Cofidis : 15
Samitier 52 = 15

Wanty: 60
Meintjes 18 = 60

Very bad Giro for the last two teams. This means that Picnic passes Cofidis and Cofidis is in 19th place (!). The gap Astana with Wanty is brought back to 1000.

Of course there are more results tommorrow. 200 for GC in France with Gate leading and Thomas in 6th. And GC in Norway with Lund in 7th.

Today will be interesting as layed down in the previous post. Just a little things were wrong/missing. Gate got 25 yesterday, as he got 5 in gc and scaronis 40th place will be worth 25 points instead of 20. Charmig/Romele (they will be equal 20th for astana with the current standings) will as well get 5 points. So astana will be at 665 if all gcs stand. PicNic will get 315 points, as Lund and koerdt will gain 90 points in Norway. Cofidis will get 100 Points with the 85 points in France and Intermarche will get 158 with 10 in france and 88 in Norway. UnoX will get 113 in Norway.

The last 2 days were really bad, fortunato could have fought for 2 stage victories and the others could have finished higher in gc

I don't think Fortunato had the legs anymore, he came in red hot and attacked so much throughout the race.

Besides, the team came away with a day in pink, a 1-2 on the arguable queen stage, and the KoM jersey. Points are almost irrelevant now, they'll probably be ahead of Wanty by July.

I agree, there isn't any more relegation drama with Astana anymore. They have the riders and the points winning formula down at this point. They will probably slow their point scoring pace, but it will still be high enough for them to keep gaining distance from the teams behind them in the relegation zone.

24th in the three-year ranking? That ranking has nothing to do with the auto-wildcards. They are dealt out according to the rankings from just this year and we won't know exactly who they need to beat in that ranking until we know who is being relegated/promoted.

Currently it would be Uno-X and Tudor getting the invites everywhere and Q3.65 the one day races, but if Picnic overtakes Cofidis in the 3-yr ranking when they update the scores after this week as an example, then Cofidis would bump Tudor down to the one-day consolation prize.

It's all very tight anyway and with a lot of points up for grabs.

I know, here is the first of June and around 2 days of april in it as im counting mondays to sundays, but what was this for an incredible month for astana. PicNic started to go serious, so cofidis really needs to close intermarche. UnoX should now have no chance anymore.

You seem to think that riders are machines. I'm actually staggered how well and consistent Astana are riding five months into the season.

I was just going from their shape. Fortunato finished the Finestre stage really well, so the legs should have been there, he just missed the break. Poels was de facto invisible in the last week and should normally be a guy for the week with the most mountain stages. But year, all in all their season is extraordinary
