Of the ten riders who earned most points on the Giro, four (Contador, Scarponi, Kruiswijk and Rodriguez) were entirely overlooked by entrants in the competition. Of the remaining six, Only Spare tyre had bought Nibali, Nobilis was the only one to pick Gadret, Rujano's potential was only spotted by Cabra and me. Kreuziger was slightly more popular, being on the squads of Jancouver, Nobilis and Ewbles; Menchov was picked up by Waterloo and me, and only On3m@n@rmy had opted for Nieve.

The best scorers in the Giro were therefore Nobilis, Spare Tyre, Jancouver and Cobra. Only one of the top three overall increased their scores at all in the last three weeks, but they remain unchanged in order. Behind them, Spare Tyre and Ewbles replace Kazistuta and Hitch in the top five.

Maybe you should ask the MOD's to change the topic title back to its original name? I had trouble finding the thread when looking specifically for it.

Any mods nearby? A bit of fun - UCI prediction game had, I think, been the title before the move. This thread has lost most of its continuity anyway: plenty of contributions missing, many others imported from elsewhere.

Wiggins was one of the most popular picks, being on 8 lists. Only Andy Schleck and Haussler were more widely chosen. The only other top ten finisher in GC who anyone had picked was Péraud (On3manarmy's team), and otherwise scoring was limited to a handful of stage points here and there. The eight big scorers with Wiggins in their list are our two overall leaders, who thus extend their lead over the peloton (Ingsve and Waterloo); Nobilis, who thus moves into the top ten; and 5 of us who are saving ourselves for the final sprint:Roundabout, Marcus 135, Moondance, Izzy Eivel and me.

Top 10
1) Ingsve 987 (Gilbert 356, Goss 203, Wiggins 181, Boonen 140, Urán 107)
2) Waterloo 933 (Gilbert 356, Cancellara 236, Wiggins 181, Urán 107, Menchov 53)
3) Jaylew 766 (Goss 203, Martin 203, Sánchez 163, Urán 107, Tondó 90)
4) Spare Tyre 703 (Gilbert 356, Nibali 210, A Schleck 72, Gerrans 51, Mollema 14)
5) Ewbles 663 (Gilbert 356, Kreuziger 135, Basso 92, A Schleck 72, Haussler 8)
6) Kazistuta 641 (Gilbert 356, Boonen 140, D Martin 72, Cavendish 40, Cunego 33)
7) Nobilis 632 (Wiggins 181, Kreuziger 135, Gadret 116, Intxausti 110, Tondó 90)
8) Hitch 625 (Cancellara 236, Boonen 140, Urán 107, A Schleck 72, Matthews 70)
9) Jancouver 614 (Cancellara 236, Boonen 140, Kreuziger 135, Anton 53, Pozzato 50)
10) Cobra 612 (Gilbert 356, Rujano 94, A Schleck 72, Pozzato 50, Cavendish 40)

The changes in overall positions in the time trial will be welcome to Hitch (only entrant with Leipheimer in his team) and by Moondance and Henry Olonga (who both have Fuglsang), but will be rued by those who chose Cunego (Kasistuta, Cobra, Roundabout, Schweinika, Izzy Eivel and I), especially Izzy, who also has Frank Schleck in his squad. His loss of 60 potential points in 45 minutes might be offset by the consolation of having been 2nd highest scorer of the week, behind Schweinika who as well as Cunego had TGBM (as do Spare Tyre and Moondance) and useful stage points from Cancellara and Andy S.

Roundabout replaces Jancouver in the top ten, and the highest change of position sees Kazistuta enter the top 5. The top three all earned just a few stage points, so Ingsve and Waterloo remain well clear of the field.

Top 10
1) Ingsve 991 (Gilbert 356, Goss 207, Wiggins 181, Boonen 140, Urán 107)
2) Waterloo 945 (Gilbert 356, Cancellara 248, Wiggins 181, Urán 107, Menchov 53)
3) Jaylew 770 (Goss 207, Martin 203, Sánchez 163, Urán 107, Tondó 90)
4) Spare Tyre 759 (Gilbert 356, Nibali 210, A Schleck 76, Mollema 66, Gerrans 51)
5) Kazistuta 731 (Gilbert 356, Boonen 140, Cunego 123, D Martin 72, Cavendish 40)
6) Cobra 699 (Gilbert 356, Cunego 123, Rujano 94, A Schleck 76, Pozzato 50)

10) Nobilis 632 (Wiggins 181, Kreuziger 135, Gadret 116, Intxausti 110, Tondó 90)

Cobra takes 6th place above Hitch, despite same points, as UCI's tiebreaker is the team's highest scorer.

Comparing our scores with those of the real teams, all of the top ten are scoring higher than HTC, who lead the team rankings with the UCI. Compared to the national rankings, Spain are just 9 points ahead of Ingsve, and Waterloo also outscores the second country on the UCI list (Italy). Jaylew is beating 3rd place Belgium, and Spare Tyre is ahead of fourth ranked Australia, while no less than 16 of us are doing better than Germany, who lie 5th.

Unless I have missed something, the best possible selection at present would have been to have chosen Gilbert, Contador, Goss, Kloden and Wiggins (total cost 1112 points, allowing 88 points for other squad members), which would have already yielded exactly 1300 points.

Nobody has chosen Cadel, who would not only be the top scorer, but also the top profit maker.

But despite the winner being universally overlooked, the Tour still caused major changes to our rankings (after the minimal difference that the Giro made, I was a bit worried). Andy Schleck was in exactly half the squads, and many of those who didn't pick him had either his big brother or Sam Sanchez. The other big scorers were Cavendish, and two others left out of all the squads: Contador and Voeckler. Cobra (our new leader), Schweinika (leaps from 13th to 5th), Izzy Eivel and Jraama all got 2 of the big scorers; Taiwan (who restricted his selections almost entirely to the freebies), Nobilis (who managed the amazing feat of adding no points at all to his score in the Tour, although Radioshack and Katusha managed it as well), and our previous leader Ingsve were the only ones to get none of the big point scorers from the Tour.

Cool, I'm actually winning!:D

Wonder how its possible to be leading this but still doing an epic fail in the CQ game :(

Sorry, that didn't last for long. While Cobra, like everyone else in the current top 6 (and no-one outside the top 6), had picked Gilbert, Uran's 9th place was enough to put Waterloo into the lead. Schweinika, after a good tour, suffered from his/her Gilbertlessness, and dropped from 5th to 8th.

Top 10
1) Waterloo 11184 (Gilbert 482, Cancellara 250, Wiggins 181, Cavendish 152, Urán 113)

10) Hitch 889 (A Schleck 252, Cancellara 250, Boonen 140, Leipheimer 128, Urán 119 )

Cobra had Peter Sagan on his list for the TdP, and the points he gained from that puts him back on top of the pile. Sagan also was selected by Marcus 135, Jancouver, Henry Olonga, Moondance and Nobilis, but they all remain outside the top 10. The other main point scorer was Dan Martin, who raises Kazistuta from 5th to 4th, and drags me into the top half of the table, just. Any other points gained were scraps from stage points, and made no difference to standings.

Eneco Tour
Roundabout, Armchair, Hitch, Jancouver and Nobilis all had top scorer EBH, and all the top 6, and only the top 6, had PhilGil. David Millar was on three lists, but has still not made the top 5 in Waterloo or Schweinika's lists, but did bolster Izzy Eivel's score. Taylor Phinney, similarly, was of no help to Ingsve or Nobilis, but did add to the total of lanterne rouge Taiwan. Greipel's stage points gave a slight filip to Schweinika and Henry Olonga.

Vattenfalls
Just like last week, Roundabout, Armchair, Hitch, Jancouver and Nobilis were the top scorers courtesy of Eddy BH: that was it for scorers. Third place Borut Bozic was on two lists (Hitch and Nobilis) but not among their five scorers. No other riders in the top ten had been selected.

Plouay

Nearly forgot that this is a WT race.

Second placed Gerrans added 60 points to Spare Tyre (5th) and Jraama (19th) without increasing their positions. Hushovd (40 points for 4th) had been chosen by Ingsve, but is not in his top five.

That's all.

As with the other two GTs, no-one picked the winner of the Vuelta, and Froome was also missed by us all. Wiggins, chosen by Waterloo, Ingsve, Roundabout, Armchair, Izzy Eviel, Nobilis, Moondance and Marcus (one of the most popular riders in the game), and Mollema (scoring for Spare Tyre, Schweinika and MMoondance) were the highest scoring picks, followed by Menchov (Waterloo and Armchair, but outside my top 5) Nibali (Spare Tyre) and Sagan (Cobra, Jancouver, Nobilis, Moondance, Henry Olonga and Marcus) were the other big points winners.

Moondance, with Wiggins, Mollema, Sagan and Fuglsang, was top scorer in this race by a long way, followed by Marcus (Wiggins, Sagan and CA Sorensen), Spare Tyre (Nibali and Mollema), Nobilis (Wiggins, Sagan and Intxausti) and Armchair (Wiggins and Dan Martin) to complete the top 5 for the Vuelta.

Waterloo, with points from Wiggins, Menchov and a couple for Cancellara's 4th in the TT, overhauled Cobra (for whom Sagan's stage points were the only haul from the Vuelta) to move into the lead, and Spare Tyre took second. Momentarily, the domination of Gilbertophiles at the top of the table, as Roundabout became the only contestant without PhilGil in his squad to enter the top 6 overall.

But then I added in the Canadian results, and the normal situation of "Pick Gilbert, beat everyone who didn't" was resumed, to the benefit of Waterloo, Spare Tyre, Ingsve, Cobra, Kazistuta and Ewbles. Leipheimer (for Hitch) and Urán (Waterloo, Ingsve (who thus moves into the top three), Hitch, Moondance, Jaylew and Marcus, and would have been worth points to Roundabout if he didn't have 5 higher scorers).

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that I'm in second place.

This game has produced my most successful tipping/fantasy game results ever. So proud! :D

Oh, sorry....thought the WC was part of the WT for some reason...

If it had been, Waterloo would have extended his lead by having both Cav and Canc, and would be almost insurmountable. Cobra (Cavendish) would have jumped to second, and Ingsve (Goss) would hang on to third. Spare Tyre will be pleased that the WC is not a WT event, or he would have been pointless and dropped off the podium. Schweinika, who has Cav, Greipel and Cancellara, will be sorry about it: would have had a great haul and moved into the top ten. Kaz: you would stay in 5th anyway

But if it were a WT event, it presumably would have been so the previous year, so it would have affected the prices and the team selections.

But it isn't, so those things didn't happen.

After Tour of Beijing

Bit of a non-event in this table, as well as in cycling entertainment. Jaylew had Tony Martin, and his 106 points move him up to 9th; Izzy Eivel has Millar, for 84 points and a jump to 10th. Hitch and Moondance drop out of the top 10. Waterloo and Schweinika (through Millar) and On3manarmy (Peraud) got a few overall points, and the six participants who have Sagan in their team got 4 stage points each.

Top 8 stay in the same positions, Waterloo's lead is extended.

Just one race left, and given that all of the top 6 have PhilGil in their team, will there be much chance for movement in the upper places?

So what difference might the finale make?

Whatever Gilbert does is fairly irrelevant, as he is in the team for all the top 6

Urán is the only chance that Waterloo has to consolidate his win.

Spare Tyre has the best chance to overhaul him, with both Nibali and Mollema hunting for the 77 points he would need. A second place, or 3rd+9th, 4th+8th, 5th+7th would do the job.

Ingsve is only 4 points worse off that Spare tyre, but has no chance of winning unless Igor Anton wins, as his potential scorers today are the same as Waterloo's. Any top 10 finish for Uran, top 2 for Anton (or a shock top 4 for Van Avermaet), with the failure of Nibali and Mollema, could see him take overall second place.

A win for Cunego could gain Cobra the title, while Cunego getting 8th or higher could at least earn a top 3 for Cobra.

Top place is beyond anyone else, but if Dan Martin and Cunego get 120 points between them, (win +8th, 2nd+6th, 3rd+5th) Kazistuta could break into the top three.

If Cunego, Basso, Sanchez or Uran (for Roundabout), Martin or Cunego (for me) do well, and Phil Gilbert fails, there could be some disruption of the Gilbertophiles in the top 6.

For those looking to at least getting into the top ten, Mollema, Uran and Fuglsang share the buden of Moondance's hopes, Hitch is reliant solely on Uran, and Schweinika will have his/her fingers crossed for Cunego and Mollema.

Looked good for Spare tyre for a while there, but it was not to be.

Only one change in the end in the final rankings from the final race: I overtook Roundabout for the coveted "top team without Philippe Gilbert" award because of Dan Martin out-"sprinting" Ivan Basso, and to make a mockery of his sig about the nice guys being 7th. Kudos to Roundabout, however, who had Zaugg in his squad, but outside his top 5 so it made no difference.

Kazistuta was top scorer on the day, with Dan Martin and Gilbert, followed by Ewbles (Basso+Gilbert) and me, with Roundabout (Basso) the other main scorers on the day. The top four also scored, 20 points each for the dominant scorer of the World Tour.

With great insight, and the courage to take on two expensive signings that would have taken up more than two thirds of your budget between them, the best possible team would have had
Gilbert (cost 437, points won 718)
Evans (cost 390, points won 574)
T Martin (cost 179, points won 349)
Wiggins (cost 18, points won 289)
D Martin (cost 106, points won 286)

That would have earned 2216 points, and you would have had 70 extra points to buy some handy back-up, potentially
Froome (230 points, no cost)
Cobo (206 points, no cost)
Millar (185 points, cost of 10)
Uran (169 points, cost of 40)
Gerrans (111 points, no cost)
Kruijswijk (120 points, cost of 10)
Meyer (106 points, no cost)
Nuyens (101 points, no cost)
Van Summeren (100 points, no cost)
Zaugg (100 points, cost of 1)
