No, it isn't. It's used in Dutch as well, but not in English. Runner-up is most appropriate, even though it doesn't have the same ring to it.

I've never heard that term used over here. Terms that are common over here are: "runner-up", "2nd place", "first loser".

Remco did a brilliant time trial as I expected, next year in Tokyo he will surely be a gold contender.
Ganna won the bronze medal in that final sprint. I didn't know he had this ability for such long time trials.

In another thread you predicted a great 2019 for Piccolo and Tiberi after the WC in Innsbruck. They became European- and World Champion TT respectively this year. I think I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt with this prediction.

Back to the Worlds - the time difference has me all messed up, so haven't been able to catch any of the live streams yet. But I hope to at least catch the men's RR on Sunday very early morning, I think it is.

He drove a Ferarri. Actually had 2 different ones. The first one was a Daytona Spyder and the second (the one your thinking of) was the Testarossa. I loved the Testarossa.
I've been watching the even replays of the ITT's on the Olympic Channel so far. Although today I due to my work for today I was able to watch the ITT live before leaving the house.
