C'mon, I know a lot of you guys have an abnormal visceral hatred for everything even remotely related to Armstrong, and VS coverage of the Tour was definitely pro-Lance, but the US Giro coverage and especially the commentary was nowhere near the standard of VS and the Tour.

Nonetheless, I very much appreciate that US is picking up the Giro and Vuelta so that we have some kind of TV coverage in the states...

OMG! I hope they have the 2 "up close and personals" per episode on Lance like Verses. Maybe have a little "Lance" graphic where they can show where Lance would be be in the race, if he was there!

Actually, I think US did a pretty good job for the Giro. I am loving their swimming and track & field coverage. They are my favorite TV station right now. I think the Vuelta is a great race, and hope it gets very good coverage. They tend to have some sick climbs!

I thought the screen panels were provided by 'the Giro' themselves, so they did the 'translations'. I assumed it was a literal, but in cycling jargon wrong translation of the Italian "inseguitore"...

I saw the US logo on the panels. They did change it after a few days, but still get it right.

The 2 different guys they had for the live web feed sucked

but Todd Gogolski on the TV spot was the bomb. Steve schlanger??? was good too.

I wish I'd like to see Todd paired with Paul Sherwin

Like I said, the first guy Universal had at the Giro was a soccer announcer they got at the last possible second! Of course he wasn't very good! But the second guy was better - almost as good as P&P if you look at the overall picture, taking all good and bad into consideration.

Agree on Todd Gogolsk. He was great, spot on. Raced in a golden era of sorts in US cycling against the likes of Phinney, Hampsten, Cooke, the Stetina brothers, etc.

Take it easy there Wrecktangle! We're all just as pleased. :) I'd be perfectly happy to watch the Vuelta with no commentary actually. Universal online covered the Vuelta al Pais Vasco this way, and it was fine.

........... At this time, I think anybody is an improvement over Phil Liggett.

I watched the TdF on Versus and I realize that the commentators are broadcasting to a wider US audience than just cycling fans. That's why so much emphasis on Lance.
I also watch Tennis and Golf and guess what? During major competitions the commentators are also playing to wider audience.

Da bomb for me is that I get to watch it streaming live at work and then I get to see the replay at night on US.

Remember OLN back in 2001 or so when they had all 3 Grand Tours live and then same-day replays? That was way cool.
