It'll be probably good news for Norwegian TV viewers as having a WT team should increase TV time for pro-cycling.

One would think so, for example that TV2 would want to broadcast Giro and Vuelta, but Christian Paasche (main commentator of cycling for TV2) wrote on Twitter yesterday that TV2 as of today only have the rights for Tour, RvV, Roubaix, Liege, Tour of Norway and Artic Race next year. Still time to sort things out, if not people would need to watch Eurosport.

I couldn't see any mentions of it on the forum so wasn't sure if everyone was aware than Simon Dalby of Uno-X Mobility suffered two small blood clots in the brain earlier this week.

Last week, @simon_dalby suffered two small blood clots in the brain. Thanks to the quick response of his parents and the excellent care at Regionshospitalet Gødstrup, he is now experiencing only mild symptoms and is undergoing specialist rehabilitation.

Additional tests are being conducted to determine the exact cause, after which a plan will be put in place to help prevent it from happening again.

Everyone at Uno-X Mobility wishes Simon a full and speedy recovery – and we’re looking forward to seeing him back on the bike soon 💛❤️"

I was friends with a guy years ago that had a good cycling career raced 2 years in Belgium and 2 in France, he had symptoms that sounded lots like what Matthews described and his was an irregular heartbeat and he had to stop racing and had to ultimately get a pacemaker before 30th birthday. They have newer treatments for AFIB that use medication to regulate heart

Say what?! Maybe we're not watching the same sport. I've not seen masks for a looong time, and I've seen riders riding with everything from colds to food poisoning in a GT.

I read that one potential cause of blood clots was dehydration so my initial thought went to excessive heat training. Hard to think a cyclist would get severely dehydrated though with the amounts they usually drink on a daily basis.

There's obviously not much can be done in a race but otherwise I did read about team's attempts to stop guys and gals infecting each other.

Uno-X has had a kick off weekend for next season and among other things they have lined up a list of goals for the season:

"Among the natural goals for the season:

• Continued progress in the Classics, where the team has already made important strides
• A stronger presence in the Ardennes, where there’s still more to give
• Aiming for a top-10 in the Giro with Johannes Kulset, as part of his long-term growth
• Getting closer to the Tour de France podium with Tobias Halland Johannessen
• And, more broadly, winning stages across the three Grand Tours — and racing with purpose, every time we line up"

Not sure if it has been announced anywhere as well that they have 2 new DSs in Michael Blaudzun and Asbjørn Kragh Andersen.

Looking forward to the new season.

To elaborate, he has proved himself to be a poor commentator and expert on Danish television, but that obviously doesn't mean he's necessarily a bad DS. However, if he really isn't particular skilled at the job, this could of course also be a part of a deal that will bring his brother to the team in 2027. Time will tell.

Based on your explanation in the TDU thread regarding Bugge's name, Norwegian people are always referred to by their last names, but I'm pretty sure he hasn't always been called 'Lavik' - in fact, I'm pretty sure he was just 'Fredrik Dversnes' when he won that stage in TA last year - so continuing to just call him 'Dversnes' (or 'Fredrik Dversnes') seems more... natural.

When asked to pronounce his name for PCS, he didn't include the Lavik. But maybe he wasn't asked to, or was even asked not to.

So what seems to have happened here is that he got married to Michelle Lavik last year. And it's another example of taking liberties with traditional naming customs. Both of them are now named Dversnes Lavik. Maybe they thought it sounded better than the other way around. But I'm pretty sure he will continue to be known as Dversnes for all intents and purposes.

It's a minefield.

I have not taken my wife's surname, nor has she taken mine. We have however given our kids both our surnames, hyphenated. And they're now coming to an age where they make their own email-accounts and thus have to chose usernames.

I tried to bypass this by appealing to my wife that we should honor the old Norwegian tradition of taking the surname of the area you settle down. She was not keen on taking Bjørkåsen (Birch Hill), and thus chaos ensues.

Not sure Kamp has requested anything... He's simply another guy who is referred to by his middle name, rather than his last name (Egested).
As for Norman; well, he changed his name when he and Julie Leth got married - she also added the 'Norman' to her name - I dunno if he has specially requested that commentators use his full name.

Kamp has been in touch with parts of the cycling media ecosystem to request the non-use removal of his last name. Which is not said in order to speculate on why, rather that it's the best way to go about if a change is wanted on part of the rider.

I don't think he has ever really been referred to as 'Egested'. At most it was just kinda there on result sheets, with media always just using 'Kamp'.
Bit like how 'Nielsen' sometimes pops up when talking about Cort.
