US prosecutors drop case against Armstrong/USPS

Truth and evidence have been rendered irrelevant in the US now? How long before this is stated officially? It's about who you know, and how much you can pay them.

A big mountain of evidence and witnesses who pretty put their lives at stake to not perjure themselves. Some who obviously did anyways, taking evven greater risks. And what do the feds do? They get "confused" and can't find an opening for a case. They could presecute LA for at least a dozen of individual alleged facts, and can't come up with a plan. So they give up. Uhuh.

Perhaps it's all part of the 2012 thing. People to get increasingly aware of the world they live in. Get sick of the lies being told by them. The tipping point is less than a year away, from there it will get better rather than worse.

I don't think this will change anybodies perception as to whether Armstrong doped, I guess there wasn't enough evidence to indict him Federally. On a slightly related subject, on ABC radio today they interviewed Michael Tomalaris, the Australian host for cycling on SBS here, and he thought either Armstrong was clean all along or he has some incredibly good lawyers. He also thought it was a win-win for cycling as he didn't think that this investigation wasn't going to prove much and it's time for everybody to move on, and if Lance went down, the whole cycling would come down. I can't say I quite agree with Tomalaris that it's a complete win-win, but I understand that he has to be careful of what he says in the media. I don't take him too seriously though and I think most serious cycling fans here don't either.

Just another abominable merchandising of justice.

What is striking, however, is how the man (very astutely) was able to construct for himself a protective armor into which nothing penetrates, through a type of "good cause" colossus to which a number of very lucrative companies have their honorable names (and investments) attached.

So on the one hand you have a moral initiative that, sentimentally, nobody wants to ruin, especially in regards to the millions of cancer afflicted patients who have drawn hope and benefits from Livestrong and, on the other, you have an army of market enterprises who have no interest in seeing their images tarnished.

Another nail in the coffin of justice.

Not hard to see what happened. Powerful and rich connections managed to pull the plug.

It must have been some party at the YellowRose last night.

Horrible news. I hate to see the bad guys get away with it.

American "justice" is an odd beast. Does the case being dropped mean lance is more or less innocent than OJ?

A gentleman enjoys the moment and keeps quiet (nearly) :D

High five, Polish !
Wahahah, money, wah.
Will we do the great revenge tour ?
No, we are not such losers that we wouldn't recognize that we have actually won.
Anyway, I love all that whining.

@Mr.RR
Bet is bet. See ya.

What does Capitalism have to do with this?

I hope it means that the lion just leaves the corps for the vultures to pick on. The lion walking away doesn't have to mean that the prey got to live another day. Perhaps it just turned out to be a hedgehog, other predators are better equipped to deal with that.

Though who was the lion and who was the prey, LA or Novitzky?

The latest development would suggest the opposite of what the masses had previously thought.

Phew - & St David

".......Oh Lance - I knew they would get nowhere - can I please have another autograph and a picture. I just want one of you holding my signed photo from Michele de Bruin, sorry let me just get it from behind that one of Marion Jones. There thrown that one on the floor - damned drug cheat that Marion, not like you and Michele - [sound of breaking glass and then stamps on smashed photo of Marion Jones].

And what's poor St David Millar to do now !!!!
Like a Judas, he gave false witness about his previous most bestest ever, ever, in the whole wide World, pal Lance.

When Lance needed him, St David denied.

Lance had been there for him during St David's darkest days when the nasties were being horrible to St David and he was trying to tell them he had only ever doped once, honest, never before and never again, and can I please serve on the anti-doping commission and can I please play with all the toys again "I had many calls of support from many of my fellow professionals, in particular one from my best friend Lance" and no I won't spit in the soup, ever. Poor St David, thought the tide had gone out on Lance and there he was with no bathers on and St David had joined the gang and was pointing and now - just look what has happened. Super Lance. Better leave it a couple of days and make sure he gets a "love message" in the press, so that Lance can read it before he rings him up and says it was all them nasty press people mis-quoting him and taking things out of context and Lance was always, always his bestest pal.

This does not necessarily mean Pharmstrong skates. All that's ending is the investigation stemming from FLandis' Qui Tam filing under the False Claims Act. It does not mean that no actionable evidence of criminal activity was discovered, or that there will not yet be criminal charges.

Between those Kardashians & the Joyce Dewitt / Suzanne Summers reunion I just didn't have time to give a **** about this. The giant asterisk of doubt is next to his wins any way, right? Who really cares what a "court" decides. Ofcourse he'll win at Leadville this year BUT he will never get rid of that doubt by the public. Not now. Remember, it's not about the bike!

:eek: Did not see this coming.

Ah well, so I still won't be able to convince my mates that Armstrong doped now...

I don't think anything will come from USADA either, if LA can see off the Fed's, I don't hold out much hope for them.

So this is why Pat sued Kimmage.

I'm really enjoying all the cynicism here in this and the other thread.

Somehow everybody still believes that the US government's intentions and motivations are all about truth and justice.

They have no consititutional juridisction in this type of case to begin with. Our legal system and the US Constitution has finally got one right, as well as the grand jury who obviously told the prosecution to take a flying leap with this ridiculous case.

When am I getting my refund check back from the wasted money of the tax payer? Surely never.

I said it before, and you can look up the posts. I said this case was going to be dropped and go nowhere. You can't have your case rely on known liars, dopers and expect any jury to believe a word they say. The Grand Jury from a legal standpoint is 100% in the right, and the Federal prosecution had no choice but to drop the case.

It was insane to create a conspiracy theory case of international espionage, intrigue and tie doping to a systematic well throught out case to defraud the government and postal service out of money. The stupidity of anybody who thought this was a good idea is astounding. Many live their lives on this forum.

The irony is, the US Postal service has been ripping off the tax payers for decades and driving themselves and our Country further into debt. But of course, when will the politicians and people who have been defrauding the tax paying public be held accountable and put on trial for their theivery?

Of course, the threads will continue with the hyprocrits and those that feel they sit at the right hand of God himself of moral altitude to judge Lance and others.

Continue onward with the flamefest.

Disclaimer, I personally don't care if Lance, or anybody dopes.

Out of interest, who would have more of a higher profile, Lance Armstrong or Marion Jones, and Marion went down?

The rest of your post I can appreciate, but this last sentence, I respect that as your choice, but hope you can also appreciate that others have made a different choice.

In my case for example, I care if people dope because I have a 12 y/o son who is hell bent on becoming a professional cyclist. He has grown up with me riding almost everyday and now takes himself out on century rides throughout the year.

I would like to think that if he is ever good enough to make it into the professional ranks, he can do so without having to resort to PEDs.

So it's important that there is a continuous battle to find the cheats, because maybe just slowly, the sport can develop a clean culture that benefits the health of its future stars.

You obvisously don't live in the US!

Theres a big differnece between taking down a black women who cheated rather than a white man.

You still don't get it do you? The only mountain of evidence that existed was here in the clinic. Yesterday you witnessed the value of clinic evidence. Think of all of this like the story of Johan flushing my hero Landis' blood down the toilet. Turns out it never happened. Can we just turn out the lights in the clinic now, it's a bigger fail than Novitzky.

Let me help you out here.
If your son is exceptionally talented, he can compete and win at the highest level without doping.
If he wants to win a GT, he will almost certainly have to dope, regardless of how talented he is.

I cant see that situation changing for the better, but hopefully anti doping will stop it changing for the worse.

I have to agree with you. There wasn't enough and to be honest doping is not a crime.

Feel a bit for Tyler. He protected the franchise with his silence year upon year lost and when the GJ forced out his testimony and he confessed he was dammed.

Floyd is still the man but I don't know where this leaves him.

There are no winners in this game.
